Ice Climbers like Fox?

Icy's short hop is rediculous(i short hop with fox more consistently)---like fox.
Icy's have infinites--like fox.
Icy's (when desynched) take mad technical skill to keep up with them--like fox

But still for characters that appear so different, the similarities are more than one would expect

ok then freely whatever you say, i was just thinking, which is a dangerous thing for me... so lets change the topic to icy's vs fox, how do they do? Ive heard icy's counter all top tier characters, is fox and exception and why or why not.

Sorry if i seemed cold, i just dont see any similarities between them.

Ice climbers vs. fox could turn in both directions. one advantage fox has over the ICs is his shine, it seperates them and send them really far due to their low traction. when i play foxes, i seem to well against them if i can get around the shine, though, so im not sure what gives ICs an advantage, but I think that something makes them good against fox.

Fox is my main, and I also enjoy playing the ICs. Im not sure exactly why, becuase the two play pretty differently, but both are still fun.

This is actually a very hard match for the climbers, Fox's shine owns them to ****z, but the one thing the climbers have over fox is their chain grabbin skiLLz :P climbers can get 0 to death combos on him, but they have to grab him first.

all and all the climbers do great against decent fox players but mad crazy ones like CunningKitsune and KishSquared, whom rarely miss a shine, it is very hard. i was able to go even with cunning and bring squared down to the last stock every game we played. Fox's shine just cheaps them out way too much. But in the rare instances where u do get a grab, make sure u are able to KO out of it, since u wont get many of these grabs handed to you against fox's of this nature.

all and all the biggest example is Isai vs Chu, game was over in a minute and 45 seconds. Fox's shine goes through all the climbers moves, and launches them off the stage where they can get shine spiked very easily.

Last I remember was Getting Schooled II, where Isai's Fox couldn't beat Chu's IC's. I don't remember whether Isai could get a win off, but I know Chu won the set, and there isn't some huge difference in skill though there is probably a huge difference in experience with the matchup which would give Chu an edge.

Who knows, though. Need to see more IC players than just Chu doing well in tourneys.

Fox vs. Ice Climbers, it's Fox. Sure Ice Climbers have Double, maybe even triple strength, but if Nana Dies, Popo is pretty useless by him self, throwing only one ice block, one hammer, and he cant even save himself with the Up+ B technique

About the Popo being useless thing, when you watch ChuDat's vids, he seems to do just fine when he has JUST Popo. Basically, your throws aren't as good and your power decreases, but it's not like your WD changes or your weight, or other various advantages you may have over other characters. IC's are a raw character that is just waiting to be refined, and ChuDat is probably just the premiere in a realization of how good the IC's are.

After playing a whole lot more of this matchup, I have some opinions of my own. This is a matchup of taking turns in pwning. The way it seems to me is whoever dies first loses. once one of the players ends up off stage, they are dead. If Icy's die first, they come back and with their two person advantage and invincibility frames, they beat the tar out of fox till he dies. Fox comes back and with his invicibility frames he kill the Icy's. repeat, etc. till the ocillation stops b/c someone runs out of lives. so whoever wins the first stock wins in the end. Just goes to show you how broken death canceling is.

That's more like Fox vs Marth. Fox doesn't have much of a chance vs ICs.

actually he does, the shine crushes all of the climbers moves and sends them flying accross or off the stage, yet the climbers combo the **** out of fox, its a very even matchup, me and cunningkitsune go back and fourth two stocking eachother or having very close games, the game just depends on who cheaps the other one out more, being shined off or combo off. very very even.

Jees I play a good icy's prolly top 3 in nation. Fox Can take them pretty easy.. shines devistate icy's hardcore and upsmash :ohwell:

btw. difficulty in playing fox stopped about a year and a half ago. Fox is easy stop thinking your good cause you play fox and can win and see on smash board threads posted by newb's that fox is hard. He's easy to win with and easy to play with. Thank you Icy's on the other hand take skill to do there dysinc trix and crazy grab combo's plus when popo's only left. Mind game's are your only opption.

I own you for free. And icy's are only easy if your a gay noob that just wd and smash's all the time, but when you start using there technical skill's there hard. Fox is nub hes to easy someone can learn to wshine in 5 mins, someone can learn to uthrow uair in 5 seconds as well as upsmash.

You realize we have probably the 2nd best ICs player in the nation here? And Fox is still hard to play in my eyes, he's only good against sheik and sort of Falco as far as top tiers go. And I'm a Fox player too. :) I've been practicing almost straight Fox lately.

LoL Fox = Icy's it's an even match i agree with you there...but i never use fox against them because the fact it'sa match that decides win or lose in about 10 seconds. :) I only use Peach vs Icy's. But Ill be at Mo4st if it happnens :lick:

I'm sorry but Ice Climbers are like NOBODY. I mean Pikachu can wear a green hat and so can Luigi but they are pretty different. Having infinates and taking a lot of skill isn't enough to call them similar at all because the nature of the infinates is totally different and I think the skills required for them are vastly different. Also lots of people have a crazy shorthop. Anyway I suck with Fox though maybe if I was better with him I would realize they are clones. Whatever.
