View Full Version : Samus Death Combo!!!!

I think Samus' most destructive and impressive manuvers would be the Down throw + charge blast. I've seen tournament videos where this is used many a time to deliver killing blows. Does anyone use this combo, and if so what tips do you have to execute it, because I don't quite know what characters it works well with considering the bounce of the down throw and such, and also what percentage is ideal to perform the move with.
Also, I'm new so I'll introduce myself as a member of the
NOTORIOUS SMASH GUILD including th0rn, pronstarpwnzor, and some other retards from the great state of MAINE!!!!!!!
-Banksyayogame50, the best smasher in Maine!!! (That title is shared with three others)

its risky... because Samus doesn't exactly have the best grab in the game... its actually one of the worst. Though, her down throw does compliment a lot of her moves. The Charge Shot being one of them. If you have the shot charged and everything, and you land the grab... then sure, use the combo by all means. Don't over use it though, your opponent will catch on quickly if you are going around grappling.
Maine is a great state. I was born there, now I live in NC. I visit family once a year or so... where do you live in Maine?

Biddeford, which is in southern maine, 15 mins from Portland (biggest city in Maine).
And yes I agree grabbing is not Samus' strongest asset, but some CaptainJack videos show a Samus getting nasty with that move. I just can't seem to jump fast enough to catch up with a bouncing character, but perhaps the percentage needs to be higher so i get more time....hmmmm...I'll have to practice.

dthrow to charge blast is about as deadly as smash missle to charge blast. (think really hard about that one)
If you really wanna be a deadly samus, do like I do. Practice the fastest kind of missle-canceling you can handle and learn to chase the missle. When you can keep up with the missle, at its max speed, you'll realize that... a.) you're alot faster than I am and b.) dthrow to charge blast is slow, there are better ways to charge blast someone

Check out the Samus vs Puff page. That's where he got this from i suppose. It's actually good, but whatever. Also, speed isn't the most important thing in smash >_>

I like this combo, but (unless my timing is off) it doesn't always hit. If they are at a high enough damage, they bounce too high and can jump before they fall. At low they also seem to be able to DI out of it.

Finally the notorious smash guild in Maine makes a name for itself... lmao
It's too risky to use Banks... If you miss the grapple, you got a nice smash lined up for your opponent to capitalize on. It's almost a 50/50 chance your gonna hit them with the blast, as they can DI away.
Only works on floaty characters really... and at a mid-level damage range.
Best advice... Don't use it... except on a few rare occassions, although you should practice it in case the time comes when you might actually use it.
Plus.. my marth pwns joo'!

We play every weekend twiggy, and anyone is welcome in the club as long as they are under 40...and thank you pwnzor, I will cherish your advice and practice as soon as you return donkey konga and get my **** disc back.*
*Pronstarpwnzor bought Donkey Konga, and put my smash disc in the case. He decided it sucked and returned it the same day with my smash disc still inside and the konga disc in my gamecube......stupid.

I use it to punish Falco/Fox when they try to reflect in anticipation of me shooting. Because of it, my friends are much more hesitent about using the shine move now which makes it easier to hit them with surprise blasts.

lol Mankosuki, i tried doing the same basic thing to my friend that plays fox. Unfortunately, samuses grab is so slow that he can always see it coming if he's in the shine, so when i'd grab, he'd jump out and drillshine stuff me. I found it doesn't make him more hesitant on the shine, but almost makes him use it more as it will sometimes trick me into attempting to grab.
If anyone knws some ways to mindgame the opponent into making an opening for a grab i would be very appreciative of the information. btw, how good are people at doing the double missile, the SWD, and the shffmc, because i'm still struggling with them.

Fighting fox, you should be struggling trying to catch him with your grapple.
SWD I can get around 70% of the time. Double missiling isn't difficult. I haven't tried the shffmc yet. I think it's more trouble than it's worth, but if you can nail it down, then by all means why not.

If you want to SHFFMC, then you should really learn to FF all of your MCs. For some reason, I haven't seen any1 FF their MCs... whats up with that?

well, i got the double missile down now, i do like using Y-B better than the control stick though. I can do it almost every time, although sometimes i get homing missiles to the left for whatever reason. The ffmc isn't hard, but shffmc is crazy on normal, i can do it every time on 2/3, but keep getting homing or bombs when i try on normal. Should i really practice the swd, it doesn't seem like it's all that important in a serious game, although i can see some of the mindgames behind it, although they seem a bit too slow to be very useful if you're getting rushed.

Hmmm....
Well, I just do normal SHMs, but I don't now why I don't FFMC when i'm higher than i short hop. Weird.

yeah, but if you concentrate on your techs until they're second nature, you get the benefit of the tech plus if won't distract you because it's so natural. It's like learning to wd, at first you need to concentrate on doing it, but then it's easy. I ff all my missiles i can, shffmc = too good for me right now, i used to do it ok, but too slow now. So really, Oro is right, but it gets to where you don't have to concentrate on your techs so yeah.
