Every time I face a good Fox with Luigi I just get dominated. Shines always send Luigi so far and kill me at all sorts of low percentages. Anybody have any advice against good Fox players?

You can get a lot of smashes off, you just have to be good at predicting where he is going to be. I have gotten pritty good at that.

not getting shined is actually very easy with luigi. The only way fox can combo with it is drill to shine. if fox jumps, jump after him. Upair when he does the drill, trade 13 for 2, or simply jump before he drills you on land and DI to the side fox is facing and downsmash him as he lands. Watch the computers DI out of a midair drill, they do it all the time. Try it on ganon's up B for the most obvious effect.

Also, luigi can just upair through fox when he goes to shinespike and it won't hurt your recovery too much. Or try the down B and go over in midair so shine can't hit you.

That's sad that Yagi, who is a respected Luigi player gave the worst answer. :(

Sad sad sad.

Anyway, at around 90% if you hit Fox with a late sex kick you can combo it to a forward smash, or if you hit him with the sweet spotted sex kick, follow it up with a judo chop.

If you're fighting a fox who does not DI, at around 70% you can do a down throw, wavedash backwords, and do the up + B
If they DI, you can still try this with an up smash.

Depending on the fox's skill you could also get a nice little uptilt combo in. Also, try to chain throw him with the up throw at low percentages.

All Mow's advice was good, and remember that your upsmash has invincible frames, so it goes through Fox's drill kick and uair.

Well, he wasn't serious. But the original poster was.

That's so disrespectful. It also lowers other people's respect for him.
Just, fyi...

Meh, it's all good.

Thanks for the advice so far. If anyone else has any tactics versus Fox, post away!

ha, remember. I never knew. Only time I use upsmash is combos or WD charged upsmash (yes, fully charged)

If you WD in good and sidestep and jab to chaingrabs or up B eventually your opponent gets paranoid and sometimes you can WD in and just charge upsmash and alot of times they walk right into it, trying first to escape your jabs and then trying to get you when it releases, but no one ever does it right lol. They always underestimate the range/priority and eat it. Or you can WD in, jump, dair, nair to the back so no shield grabs. When you land CC so bair from shield don't kill you so bad. But if either dair or nair hits, even through shield, combos like nuts =)

Ahh yes all my stolen Kamaal tricks. How I love them.

Try Playing against a level 9 Fox you may get better at him that way.

EarthBowser

A computer Fox doesn't really do anything that a human Fox would. If anything I think it would almost give me bad habbits.

PimpUigi
04-29-2005, 01:25 AM
It would give you bad habbits, but it would let you know the physics of Fox and how he would respond to being attacked by you.

Try playing against a level 1 Fox, with infinite time and no stock.
That's a good way to get practice for combos and stuff down, without developing bad habbits.

dreamland

sos246
05-29-2005, 03:15 PM
dreamland64? hmm it DOES have a high roof so i guess it would be hard to get up koed there. but couldnt fox easily shine or falco down hit easy on that level? after all if you dont get a misfire...

Yagi
05-29-2005, 11:02 PM
on dreamland you get a lot of chances to misfire since the sides are far as well as the ceiling. and since the sides are far, fox and falcos recovery are exploited since they don't have a move that can be used over and over again like luigi's forward-b. also fox can get cheap shine kills on ANY stage and falco can get easy down hits on any stage that doesn't have walk-off edges. the biggest problem i see is that stagewise it is also big so sometimes fox/falco like to use runaway tactics.

maybe you are looking for a stage like mushroom kingdom (the one with the blocks)... but i heard they might be taking that stage out for fc3. but it isn't confirmed yet so i don't know for sure if they are. anyway similar to dreamland it has a pretty big ceiling plus the blocks are their to save you from up hits as well as messing up falco's shine spike combos. recovery factors are pretty much eliminated due to the walkoff edges, but that may not be a good thing since fox/falco are pretty easy to edgegaurd. and if you are by the edge of the stage be sure to avoid shine or you will just slide to death. but also similar to dreamland the stage is big so you may have to deal with runaway tactics.

If you need to rid your self of the runaway tactics then take a trip to the Fountain Of Dreams. ;)

what? actualy I think luigi has a an easy match agaist fox, luigi can smash him 3 times and none of fox atacs seem to have priority over luigi's aereals not even the up smash
my brother always beat me in an LInk vs fox match but I always own him in fox vx luigi

also luigi cyclone can go throug most of fox ground atacs and if you get hit tap eutral A in the air

Wow, guys, lots of great advice, but I think you missed a little basic thing: managing your jumps.

It's cool that you guys can easily get out of being shined, but for those who can't, remember to never waste your jumps, since one shine can destroy you if you waste 'em. If the fox shines you off screen, don't jump, he'll just do it again. Use Green Missile or Down B and save your jump until you can safely either get back on stage or grab the edge. That way, he's off your back for now.

Falco and Samus on the other hand, rape Luigi.

I played against Ijuka yesterday (finnish fox player) and did good against him with luigi. It was mostly shorthop aerials, Nair to break comboes, and CC dsmashes to upsmashes to aerials and ledgehop bairs to edgeguard.

try not getting shined. Also try grabing and throw him up juggle with smash attacks and then when he come down do side A. thats is what i would. But since i am good fox player try catching the person off guard . If that person is like me and trys dodging out of every attack he anticipates then try to anticipate his dodging attack him there
