Was wondering if anyone has used this technique cuz i havent seen many mario/doc marios use it. Its basically where they grab the ledge and they fall down a little then jump up and throw fireball/pill then uppercut to hit the edge again. YOu can continue this forever and spam projectiles. THen whenever the other player comes closer u can down fall and jump into the stage with an up aerial, neutral, or forward aerial or repeat the uppercut to go bak on the ledge instead of jumping back on. Think its a pretty good technique to push back the other player so its easier to get on the ledge. Plus it gives extra dmg with projectiles and aerial attacks if they decide to stick close up edge guarding. If u master this well you can basically abuse the edge invincibility a lot and get cheap dmg on the opponent. The only draw back to this is if you get hit outta it your basically dead cuz you lose ur second jump most likely. Dunno if it works for other characters but i notice its perfect for mario/docs weight and no lag in projectiles to do this.

you arent invincible when the whole time, you have to be above the ledge to throw pills/fireball. and im almost positive your opponent can spike if they time it right. i think its much better to just dropdown jump uair, and then combo off of that,
im in class right now so i cant elaborate much rigth now

Ledge-hopping a Pill/fireball isn't going to seriously deter an edgeguarder, provided that the edgeguarder knows what they're doing.
In order to fire the Pill/fireball, using your 2nd jump after dropping down takes you relatively high above the stage, and therefore makes you pretty vulnerable. And even if it does work once or twice, spamming it will become too predictable.
Once the opponent knows what you're doing, they'll be able to powershield/parry the projectile, and finish you off since they know that the up-b is coming--they can edgehog if they're fast enough, or just use their respective d-tilts, or whatever attack that reaches below the edge of the stage.
Like Fasting said, doing this goes far beyond the 37 invincibility frames that you get from grabbing the ledge, and Doc/Mario are just way too vulnerable if they try to spam this, especially if the opponent is right next to the ledge while you're trying to pull this off.
It'll work once or twice as a deterrent while the opponent if farther away from the ledge, but as a stall technique a la "flamehogging," it wouldn't work out at all.

i know its pretty predictable its just little mind game mario can pull once or twice. if they power shield or parry the fireball its enuff time almost for you to get bak on the platform safely by doing what fasting said which is to jump in with an up aerial and combo with up tilts from there or wave hopping bak on.

Could you use the cape to do such a edgestall like the flame hog or no? Initially I was under the impression that this thread was made for edgeguarding/hogging techs. Couldn't you drop the Cape and DI upward for a similar like stall with the invincible frames or no?

the lag from the pill/firball, is too great to do anything after it, so once you throw the pill you have no choice but to drop down and upb back to the edge, or try to hit them witht he upb. both arent very good stratagy cause its easy to punish you.
basically it works "ok" if theyre far enough away, but instead of doing this you might as well just get back on the lvl and start pillspamming or something else. basically the only time i ever do this is if i am in a jam and cant find any way to get him off of me
but if your determined to use this, the key is to make sure you sweetspot the upb.

ya i always usually sweet spot the edge cuz of the lag u stated. I guess i have to see how it works with better people. People usually have no clue what to do when mario does this and they usually move back for me to get bak on the ledge. THe only way i can see to get through this is if they walk through the pill/fireball but then u can attack them easily after that and they will get stunned as well.

If you jump immediately after you drop, you don't need to coin punch back up.

u do if u wanna fireball or neutral/sometimes if you up aerial depending how high u do it cuz of the lag behind the move, but ya if u just jump then no coin punch.
