i dont know if anyone knows this yet...but when bowser runs he looks like he on rollerskates...

Nahhh... he's just using his godly momentum and the horrible Fk (coefficient of friction) to his advantage as his slides around.

Duh.

I have sat up many a night pondering this among other things, and I do belive Bowser has some of those sweet shoes that have wheels come out the bottom, or he can float? I dunno, i'm done.

I always thought Bowser was using his black magic to propell himself forward at that speed almost like he was on a cushion of air. Either that or the developers/animators couldn't think of a way to make the big oaf run and look natural... hehe

Why wouldn't he use it to float all the time then?

Or make himself higher on the tiers, heh.

OHOHO hooo ho ho ho higher on the tiers......mabye he will, mabye he will, mabye hes not rollin or floating at all, but simply sliding accross the ground and the sparks are from his metal arm cuffs scraping the ground.

I think it looks like he is letting lose on his bean buritos........

Loose*

and that is incorrect cup.

Heh, this has to be the most pointless thread on these boards.

:beezo:

Bean Burritos? Ew gross...naw I think the black magic thing is cool...let's stick with that, or my sweet shoe idea!

Fk? I've never seen such a symbol representing the "coefficient of friction". More often I am accustomed to a capital F as being indicative of a force. The traditional expression for the frictional coeffecient is the Greek letter mi (pronounced in English, for some stupid reason, like the Pokémon "Mew" probably because it looks like a 'u').

This thread is dumb...

Useless?! I think not!

Oh hush... I couldn't get the "F" to look right.

I think Bowser is on Lollerskates (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/1103/The_Cape/lollerskates.gif)

and per se Andy

pxtalon you can define any letter to be anything, it doesn't make you sound smart to be persnickety like that. when you start taking real physics courses you'll see that some characters are used for different things depending on what kind of physics you're studying.
example: T can be kinetic energy in mechanics, period in astrophysics or electomagnetism, temperature in almost anything else.

also my high school physics class did use a small f with a k subscript for coefficient of friction.

next time look at the big picture. =)

I've seen enough symbolic variations to know that they exist and arise with frequency.. And I wonder, if I haven't taken a real physics class already, when I will (being that the other physics majors in my classes are mostly 2nd sem. sophs/juniors [at UMD]..). I'd contend in my defense that I just took one; seemed real enough.

A small f, though (or a scripted one). That I've seen as a coefficient of friction; odd I didn't even remember that when he was talking about the capital one (which I've only seen in equations to indicate a force of friction). But you're right; "traditional" symbols, as I put it, barely exist, and he did well in definining it. Sorry. (Now you have to wonder if his statement about smash's coeff. being "horrible" is accurate.. x.x )

The real thesis of my (unnecessary) post, though, was that.. I.. think this is a worthless thread. Agreed?

Die Thread Die! Me and Aerogamer started this thread at the begining of last year and it's time for it to rest in peace...

Haha when I read this it made me laugh that was funny, anyhow I always that Bowser was floating, using his black magic also. Though if he uses his black magic to float why doesn't he use it to be rid of his lag and also pull T3H CR4ZY PWNZ000|2 stuff like summon lighting bolts and Flares and the like?

Yeah i agree with the other guy. learn your physics before you post AOB(and the other guy...). Mi or "Mew" is used for the coefficient of friction. What you are referring to is kinetic friction, which is obviously what Bowser is experiencing when he is "rollerskating". You might signify this by writing force of friction kinetic or something like that with F for force and subtitles for kinetic friction. ;)

sorry I meant subtext not subtitle. It's getting pretty late for me lol. And also, sorry for double post. :ohwell:

Wow...how did this get revived. *runs to CF + Dorf threads to revive a silly and old thread*

Coefficient of frictions is F sub f, or "Mu" (the greek letter, pronounced "Mew"). The end.

Bowser's shell has a very low "Mu". X_X

geminidestroyer
02-08-2006, 05:47 PM
actually because bowser is skidding he is constantly overcoming static friction...

Nightmare KoRn Kid
02-08-2006, 07:34 PM
Starting friction being greater than the Mu, yeah?

geminidestroyer
02-08-2006, 08:08 PM
um... not exactly. There are two types of friction. Static and kinetic. Static friction is the resistance force an object at rest experiences before motion. Kinetic friction is the resistance force an object experiences while it is in motion. The coefficient of static friction, Mu sub s, is greater than the coefficient of kinetic friction, Mu sub k, and that's why the static friction is greater than the kinetic friction. While bowser is in motion, he is not sliding but is rather skidding. This is what leads me to believe he is constantly overcoming static friction. ;)

Duh is right

F sub k is equal to the frictional force divivded by the normal force.

I don't know what physics books you guys are using but Giancoli is the man and his book is holy. Nuff said. ( I got 2nd place overall in Science Olympiad in Physics Lab so I know what I'm talking about)

i think only that hes fast on his arms and leg.

why would them let bowser run like that anyway? no idea about how he should run?

MagnuM
03-16-2006, 04:41 PM
The developers probably couldn't imagine how the heck that big oaf could run and make it look natural in an animation, so they made him levitate instead!

Ismael
03-16-2006, 06:32 PM
Who cares! The people that made the game couldn't figure out how to make him run, and look good at the same time. Or he is that strong and powerful that he can toss himself forward and slide across the floor like that.

He does, and I never noticed about it before. Ever thought about how he would do with real rollerskates.

Wow, how is this thread still alive. I regret every 'subscribing' to this thread. It isn't even about bowser on roller scates its about subscripts and Newtons Laws of Motion and such.

Maybe his hatred of physics terms is so great that it physically propels him forward.
I think I'm the only one who moves around like that though.

Bowser running on the Fourside UFO looks like he's trying to open a breach in the starship metal to enter.
