View Full Version : Possibilities from Falco's shine?

Ok I have questions that may sound like statements but just correct me when I am wrong.

I SHuFFLe a D-air with falco against a Luigi. Luigi shields it and I end up close enough to shine but still in front of him. I shine he still shields.

(I play with mostly scrubs and this particular Luigi player can be slow with shield grabing sometimes.)

I want to know All the possibilities/ tricks that can be done from the sitiuation mentioned earlier. The only ones that I know ( or have thought up) is

1.) Jump Cancel the shine in order to get out of way before he can counter

2.) Wave Shine away or past him

3.) Jump cancel Shine, then Grab cancels jump

I also want to know if there should ever be a reason that I would not want to shine after a SHuFFLe with falco. I saw a dave video where he shielded instead of shined then Ground dodged out of shield to shine....

One more thing, The luigi player I play against doesnt short hop which means I have to wait a while before he comes at me with his aerials i dont feel particuarly safe just waiting around with my shield down but due to Luigi's floatynes i can loose alot of shield in the time it takes him to get down to me. so...

Is there any action I can take, Any mind game I can implement to elther keep him from jumping, get out of his landing range (hard to do its luigi), or protect my self untill its time to counter him after he lands. (he doesnt l cancel). basically any thing to keep me from wasting my shield. Any responses would be greatly Appreciated. thnx

Differentiate it a little bit. But I'd suggest the best one would be to short hop out of the shine and do another dair and shine and repeat.

And dashdance while you're waiting for him to come down. He might even miss you all together if you do that.

1. pillar (shffl dair->shine->repeat until either the dair or shine hits)
2. JC grab (your #3)
3. waveshine away (preferably waveshine backward or forward and sidesmash towards your opponent- chances are he'll have let his shield down)
4. Infinite reflector (just keep doing this until their shield breaks- mix it up with JC grab to throw them off guard)
5. sidestep (ground dodge) and as they whiff their shieldgrab shine them
6. shinesmash (using up+A to do a usmash out of the shine- only use this when their shield is weak enough to break or if you are far enough that the tip will hit, sending you a little ways back)

My favorites are 1 and 2, and I only suggest 6 againt people who don't waveshield.

As for protecting yourself, mix up dash dancing as rebel said with bairs/nairs

Another question comes to mind.

When shield grabbing one has to wait for an attack to connect with his shield and then there is some small small amount of reflex time to start their grab. My question is if you shuffle and end up in right in front of your opponent then shine would it be possible to just jump cancel grab out of it and always get the grab.

This is, considering that this opponent is some what dumb and never thought that he could dodge out of a shield. He only knows to jump (maybe) and grab out of his shield. Is there any possible reprocussions?

and how do you up smash out of a shine... do you have to wave dash or will the smash cancel the jump

if you smash with up-a the up cancels the shine (if u have DC++ watch the video fox_trix- mad good techs there even though they are for fox)

if you shffl lets say a dair then shine and they are still shielding I assume you have the first chance to grab although it might be possible that some chars like sheik don't get as much shieldstun as others and so can shieldgrab really fast after the shine- I have no idea considering I can only play against the comp right now and they dont shield

You can also do what Mofo does... waveshine behind them, waveshine again, jab, then spam utilts...

waveshine back and forth looks the best. cause they just look like a fool. or waveshine behind them and infinite shine so they cant grab you no matter what (im not sure about the shield stun from a waveshine but it doesnt seem like enough to put them off from grabbing you if your spot waveshining; so my advice is go behind them. 100% safe :).

Zanguzen how would you fingers do that I use my thumb for pretty much all buttons on the top right face of the controller so how could I move my thumb to A in time to do a smash when my thumb is on b from the shine .. will i have enough time to move it to a or do i have to use another finger?

stilettotrap I under stand the first part about waveshining past them puting up my shine again to hit them from behind but why would I wave shine again and in what direction. and after that what direction would I be in would I have to be in front of him to jab but behind him to u-tilt?

ive already learned stuff
thanx for replying.

If your shine is shielded:
-JC a grab out of the shine
-SHFFL d-air out of shine
-Jump out of the shine and shine immediately again to try and get them if they shieldgrab, if that shine is shielded, jump out of it and try and come down with a spike
-Waveshine behind them, or waveshine in place(airdodge directly back into the ground so you dont move) and shine again(you can keep trying this multiple times and can often catch people off guard if they try and shieldgrab)
-Waveshine away and try something else or start over

If you land the shine:
You should usually waveshine out of a shine when you land it, that way you can do a dashing jump if your opponent DIs or if theyre a fastfaller, you can walk towards them and hit them with a smash of your choice(i usually use u-smash because it will often lead to another shine) but either way the shine puts the opponent up in the air and wide open for more comboing

but if you wave shine out of it isnt it impossible to do the double shine combo?

no, you just waveshine and do a full jump like you usually would have out of the shine

yes, just be surez to shine them before they try to sheild grab you.

Also, lasers are the counter to when people roll after your shine. So if u think they will roll behind, or u see it, shoot the laser behind you and tilt them.
If they roll away from you, then laser will catch them, and u can shuffle a sex kick into shine and start the bs over again

u r lucky to hear this

lol, i just said u r lucky to hear this cuz it's a really really important, and i'd say about 97% of falco players don't do what i posted, so I'm giving away one of falco's best tacitcs for free!

if ur opponent jumps after your shine a lot, start doing spikes after the shine. train them to roll

Do you use your fore finger to JC the shine or your thumb. If you use your thumb. How do you get to X in time?
