Here is foxandfalco's guide for Kirby players. it's pretty basic....

Now, im just covering things that unclude the A button. later i'll cover special techquinces and special B button moves

Ground moves:

A Right Jab 1-3 damage
A+A Left jab 1-3 damage
these to punches r great for starting combos, such as: jab,jab,grab or jab, jab, downsmash, etc.

A (repeatively) Vulcan Jab 1-3 damage
this is a decent way of ranking up damage. kirby is vulernerable though.

(dash) A Fire Kirby charge 2-7 damage
horrible dash move...

forward tilt+A Spin Kick 6-11 damage
easy way of ranking up damage, since it's a fast kick that can easly do around 10 damage

Up tilt+A Back Kick 3-10 damage
great move, can start numerous combos. "up tilt twice, short-hop, d-air, l-cancel, grab"

Down tilt+A low Kick 5-10 damage
okay for edge guarding. since it isn't very slow, it's easy to rank up damage in a safe way

Smash attacks:

all of kirby's smash attacks r best when near the oppenent

Smash Left+A forward Kick 7-21 damage
decent KOing move.

Smash Up+A Kirby Flip Kick 5-22 damage
kirby's best KOing smash move

Smash Down+A circle Kick 5-19 damage
good for edge-guarding when the opponenet is over 90% or so

Aerial Moves:

A Twinkle Star 3-12 damage
decent move with little knockback

Foward+A triple Kick 1-15 damage
great if done in a short hop, basically try to get all kicks to hit the opponent

Backward+A Drop Kick 5-14 damage
fast, does usually 12 damage making easy to rank up damage and can be used to KO

up+A Floating Flip Kick 8-16 damage
Slow, mainly used for KOing

down+A Drill Kick 8-15 damage
GREAT way of ranking up damage if done in a short hop


Grabs:
Z,R+A ,L+A

Grab+Foward Power slam 3-8 damage
easy for the opponent to get out of, if done at the edge, u can go suicidle and ko the both of u

Grab+Backward Brain Buster 4-8 damage
easy for the opponent to get out of, if done at the edge, u can go suicidle and ko the both of u

Grab+up Ninja Drop 5-10 damage
horrible up throw

Grab+down Victory Dance 4-7 damage
great for combos

A Few Combos to keep in mind:
1) dash, short hop, n-air, l-cancel, grab
fast, simple, easy
it's usually works at low damages, but it's pretty useful to get someone into a grab.
2)chain grab- repeative down throw. only works at certain damages. some where around 70%. BUT, it depends on the weight of the character ur facing.
3)*** twice, grab, throw down, up tilt twice
the is a easy combo to send some once in the air
4)MAKE UP UR OWN. kirby is one of those characters where u can easily make combos in the spirit of the moment.

Like you said.. this is a pretty basic. It's just a bunch of facts about moves.. and those combos don't work most of the times anyways. Nothing too special.

i dont feel like finishing this guide. im not much of a kirby player, i use fox, shiek, and samus(i love the infinite shine). can any true kirby player finish this guide for me? the combos i put up only work on heavy chars, lol.:beezo:

Eh... I would do it, but I simply don't have the time to go ahead for one. Besides, a lot of the tactics I tend to employ are pretty unorthodox and I'm generally too wordy. But I'd be happy to give suggestions, tactics, etc. for anybody who decides to make a guide.

You should check out the MOAST vids if they are out. KrazyKirbyKid had some real good matches.

I already tried to look into that. Sintenal said that there are vids of him vs Eddie somewhere, but they aren't online yet. I'll keep looking. In the meantime... I'm gonna change the title and content of my other thread, as well as bump it up.

Hi,

I was looking for some basic Kirby help and this looks like a good place to ask. I was wondering if anyone could suggest some basic kirby combos that I could try and practice. (Or maybe a link to a good Kirby guide?) One combo I know about is a dthrow-utilt-uair but I'm not sure if that's any good. Any help would be appreciated, like modifications to make it better less escapable and what not. Another one is dash (SHed?) hammer or fair. Is this good? ways to make it better?


Note: I pretty much suck at anyting that is not in the instruction manual like wavedashing, l-canceling, short hopping etc. I'm currently trying to work on that, but it's slow going :-).

(Maybe we could try and turn this thread into Kirby Basics, like the one they have on the Samus board?)

Thanks in advance for any advice!

Edit: Err, nevermind. There's a lot of good stuff in the vids thread. Sorry :-).

KIRBY GUIDE SHALL NOT DIE :P (dont close this, i just picked up kirby and im making up strats now, just hold on a while. i no longer a newb, so expect a no crappy guide when i edit it)

Just because you asked so nicely, I'll leave it open for a bit longer... Just a bit though. I expect to see some major editing within the next 2 weeks.
