serious luigi players

it seems luigi has alot of noob players using him once they have learned advanced techs but after that phase is over hes out. he is probably thought by alot as the char used by upcoming noobs learning a new tech but how many people have kept him as a main? i havent looked for vids often but when i did get a hold of some the luigi player isnt that good. anyone know any hardcore luigi players?

where do you live? because if you live near Los Angeles, CA, i'll be more than glad to attempt to show you what a good luigi might portray.

and and character you use isn't an accurate guage to the skill of a smasher. there are plenty of good luigis, there are even kickass bowsers, pikachus, and even ice climbers. it's the player, not the character, although there are advantages and disadvantages to a character, it's how well you exploit or hide ad/disav that make you good.

sorry if i made it sound like i said all luigi players are noobs i just meant that his WD attracs alot of noobs to play him and thats all ive seen (just never seen a good luigi). im on the other side of the coast so... yeah.

well I like inventing new thigns in smash and luigi was one of my mains not my main but then I found out nothing new can be found of him cept for a few things. but yeah so I got bored really fast of him, I just don't think he has much potential

1st-Luigi is my main. I boast I am the best luigi in the world.The vid I observed supports my opinion.
2nd-Roy is my follow-up he has an infinite too!
3rd-Mewtwo is my keep away
4th-Bowser is my up-close specialist

I don't believe in Tiers either.They are made on too broad a terms. Very vague,and fuzzy.Not very concrete. Without actual SSBM engine statistics to validate a character being better than another character.

Luigi is my main.IMO luigi is the best attacker and counterer in the game.Not to many people take abvantage of his cheap moves.You can even make luigi moonwalk (throw back to the ol' shool mario bros.)if you WD backwards twice then run forward.

I have been serfing the web for SSBM experts I want to see how this place is.

i, too, used to believe tiers don't exist, but rest assure, they do. it is a fact that marth's range is better than mario's, or whatever, point being is that it's been measured. there has to be a superiority, otherwise everything would be the same, and that wouldn't make it for a fun game, would it?

I play Luigi seriously... I agree with what Zare said about not finding new stuff out with Luigi, though. I was just talking to StW/Testament about it the other day... and how a bunch of video Luigis tend to look the same and not look that great. I do try to implement newer things with Luigi, though, to add to my game and work away from the generic style that becomes easy to predict.

luigi can be as fast if not faster then any other character if you just get the wavedashing down.
he still has a lot of lag for a few of his b-moves, but the wavedashing can help for a lot of the things that he needs some speed in.
even if the other player has more range then you, it doesn't really matter if you can get a hit in and just slide out of there before they get a chance to do anything to you.

Let me elaborate. Luigi is better than mario adn slightly better than Doc.PERIOD.

I have problems with marth because of the disjointed hitbox.But he doesn't give me as many problems like before.

I have to say I love playing with "lu" "Pluma Thug" "The Ganggreen Ninja"......ok that was dumb.I know.

He's the most fun for me closely followed by Mewtwo,Roy,and Bowser.

What fun is it to play shiek or Fox their game is too easy to conceptify.

(plumber's Pride)Dair(spike)+up-tilt+up-tilt+uptilt+Luigi Cyclone x2+Dair(spike)+Nair+aerial Flamming uppercut(70-85%).= better than Doc and mario and Shiek.

Uair-more range higher and jump that can outrange even marth's dair.better
Dair-killer at 95% better
Luigi Cyclone-Long range,manuverable,Outprioritizes fireballs in the air,stronger,safer(run away)
Breakdance(d-smash)-more range better
running a- can link into combos on the edge, very unsafe because of hitbox and low proirity(advange mario)

Look please It´s nice to know luigi can do lotsa aerials in one shorthop but it doesn´t compensate the mobility advantage Doc has.

Don´t get me wrong i like luigi too, It´s just that Doc. is more versatile and doesn´t get juggled so bad when he´s launcehd in air, for instance.

And just to clear one thing up, Doc has an usable double-aerial shorthop.
Shorthop->instant Bair-> Nair ASAP.
might not have as many options as luigi does (since he can combine his aerials in pretty many ways) but it **** well works against SG´ers.

alright, better still, i live in downey, CA. i drive. i am willing to go anywhere where the distance is at most like, a 2 hour drive (laziness). i will play anyone who wishes to either come over here or i go over there.

oh, and Vilness, lighten up... i said i don't rely on videos to gauge skill, i just listed two out of many reasons, of course there are acceptions, but generally i don't watch a video to say, "oh man, this guy's good" or "oh man, this guy sucks". i watch them to simply learn any new moves if they're worth learning.

i think i live around, 30-60 minutes from LA. not too far. and like i said, i'll be willing to play anyone.

why do i play luigi? simple, i chose him, and i stuck with him

it doesn't really matter if luigi is better than doc or vice versa, there are ways around everything, character advantages are just a really big bonus.

I know about 3 or 4 players from my area who have Luigi as thier main and have gone to tournies. Tiller420 from my crew is one, some here might remember his posting from a while back that was either stupid misleading advice or obvious. By the way he's better than you'd think, especially lately(he never really followed his own advice anyways which was a good thing heh).

These people that chose him usually say they like him for his combo abilities, the fact that he can do so many moves in the air in a row, not much lag, high knockback quick moves(fair and dair are crazy), high priority, and of course his wavedash turns him into a fast very manueverable character on the ground. Some of his attacks have freakishly huge hitboxes too. Plus ya can't forget he can sometimes recover a really long ways away if you get a spicy italian feedback^^

Hmm..if it wasnt for Sheik and the space animals, Luigi very easily gets my vote for better than the Marios. As it is though still undecided..

multi airs in one jump is nice, alot if not all chars can do like 2 airs in one jump but luigi can squeeze out alot. i remember tiller posting in this forum alot, its funny how i used to read his post and think wtf, and here you are confirming that i wasnt the only one thinking that.
