something funny happened when I was playing my friend(a Roy). he was annoyed because I kept getting past his edge guard. so when i was falling towards FD to grapple he dropped off the ledge to hit me. before he did though I grappled and hit him, stunning him, at the same time I pressed Z again to pull in immediately, so I grabbed the edge just when he used blazer, meaning I edgehogged him b/c i had just grabbed the edge and was invincable. Just thought I'd share it b/c it was such an odd kill, I thought people might like to comment or laugh.:chuckle:

Just goes to show how nice her grapple really is........LOL, by the way do you use her homing grapple much:beezo:

yeah, these aren't all that special, just only goes to show how crappy roy's recovery is. i wouldn't try to do this consistently, as most of the time it's sheer luck and bad positioning of the other person.

Someone needs to moderate this place and lock threads like these.

I see what you mean Cap, but I do like a thread that would discuss Samus' grapple over all like the homing grapple, I just found out a better use for.........I'm not sure who would care, or if it's old newz, but I'm willing to share.......:beezo:

The Cape

This seems to have the same effect as Mario or Doc's cape when someone is on the ledge, it will stun the person during their decent. More testing, Link hookshot too maybe?

actually no. blazer gets decent height, this could happen to several chars, like fast fallers or charswho don't have a huge up B. Mario, falco, docter mario, luigi, cpt falcon, ganon, sheik, zelda(b/c their up B doesn't go around edges) etc.
however it is mainly just bad luck on behalf of the other char, like you said.

but why lock it? Cape want's to check it out w/ the links, some people think its interesting or wish to post a similar situation or equally interesting KO.

Hmm... I don't remember you ever doing this to me. Guess I must have forgotten. Well Blazer doesn't get as much height as Marth's does and Roy isn't floaty. Especially when you forget the grapple can do that it comes as a surprise and I didn't act fast enough. I could have probably made it back but I didn't react fast enough. DK this would work pretty well against though...

And I always get pissed when I'm trying to edgeguard Samus.

yes, it can happen to a multitude of people, but it is not really anything worth mentioning, as most times it somes out of the person not reacting quickly enough. Also, it is harder to do to falcon, since when he is doing his upB, he can sometimes catch you on your grapple as you are pulled to the edge, weird, but happens sometimes.

It would work with link, but would need the same conditions as samus', so it would be no more useful.

Cape, if the quality of the cape you're comparing this to is the stun, then why only compare it to that when every move has stun? It's sort of like when you hit an opponent witha graple while you're coming back, and you sweetspot it through them, then grab the edge quickly, and their upB is so poor that it does not allow them to make it back on, resulting in much shame. It's not really that interesting, and there's nothing to explore with it, all it is is somthing to smile about when you do it, and make fun of whoever just died to a grapple beam.

Also, Joker, there HAS been a lot of disussion on the homing grapple, with nothing really being accomplished other than, it homes in, but homing doesn't grab if they're far away, as it won't get their feet. Also, if you hit A on the way out, you can't grab on the way in. oh, and i don't know if you would have figured this out on your own, but it can not grab out of the air.

***EDIT: i for some reason had the feeling this would be asked: No, you can't make the dash grab home in.

HoChi..stop making lame-wad, fake-@$$ posts. ok? Actually contribute something, like what I'm about to do.

I have just starting using Samus, and people keep talking about the homing grapple, and since we're on the subject...how exactly do you do it?

Jasona, do what Aftermath does to cope. Insult them mercilessly. This has the double benifit of making them feel really bad for being stupid, and making you feel better about yourself. Coddling them isn't a permanent solution. Now hes gonna think its ok to ask stupid questions, so hes gonna keep asking them until finally you can't take it anymore and you just explode!

Sorry if I contributed to it, but the last few posts have been nothing but spam. Get back on topic.

Can it zap someone out of there recovery? Is it a good idea to use the air grapple when not trying to recover? Does the zap from the grapple have any sort of priority?

Don't try to use the grapple for killing, thats stupid. The only place you could do it without dying is from above the level, and if they're above the level then you'd probably be interupting thier third jump. Interupting thier third jump is not useful, on account of they can just do it again. Just jump out there and kick 'em, don't be shy about it.

sometimes when recovering, I airdodge so I'm above the ground and throw out the grapple to stop an attack. It has worked occasionally on Marths, but not something you should do consistently.
