ok is he really main character quality? I mean I've seen only ONE bowser in actual tournament play, not including me. Arash is the only Bowser I seen play Bowser in tournaments, and I guess Luke does too. but Arash I think his main is Jiggs, so then it's liek Lukes the ONLY one to play Bowser as a main. so like this thread is just supposed to DISCUSS Bowser quality, is he even good? does he stand a winning chance? is he fun, or do you only play him because he's the underdog? could he win a tournament?

Could he win a major tournament? No
Could he win a good tournament? Yes... snex was begging me to go to Vgames kansas City because I would have won it without a problem (Darkrain already won chicago otherwise I wouldn't have had a chance)... but Kansas City... who is there? Nobody.

Too many characters that he EVENTUALLY runs into in every tournament are counters too him. And he's too slow overall.

But he is good, the most fun, and the most demoralizing when before the fight starts you sit down with your opponent, introduce yourself, and say, "Hey, who are you going to use? I use Bowser. Don't lose to Bowser." And then you win.

yeah, it seems luke gets the more fun out this game than those who continously place at 4th- to(say about)10th... who use those uber characters only because they are excellent.
and getting 4th usually doesn´t benefit you financially, so...

But I play sometimes bowser because playing him makes me appreciate" the element of speed."
And learning bowser has definetly improved my Doctor mario game, Dunno why.

Playing as Bowser should increase everyone's abilities with other characters because it teaches PATIENCE. The first thing I told my little brother when I watched Kens videos are that he has patience. I discussed it with him, too, and we both think that that is the MAIN reason he is the best marth around.

I think Bowser could win a Major. but everything would have to be going your way. Like, fighting 4 MewTwos in a row. that and people not realizing the greatness of the fortress!

....uh yea undrdog, despite the fact that in a major u would eventually come up against sheiks(azen), marths(ken), and falcos(dave) who can use their top teir characters to the best of their abilities, making them untouchable against bowser...

bowser is fun to play, it basicly ends there, although u can still win little smash fests here and there

Heh, there is such a warm feeling of hope in the atmosphere, wouldn’t you agree Luke?

just have to be realistic, i mean Bowser can do some good ****, but he can't handle some characters if the person using them knows how to beat a bowser :(

I play Marth as my main and Bowser was just a character that I wanted to get good at to prove a point (I'm the only anti-tierist in the house with 3 other roommates) but once I stated beating my friends up with Bowse I started to really dig the character.
I'm entering a tournament this Sat with Marth for Singles, Bowser for team, and Maybe Bowser or maybe Marth for the 'Free-for-all' event they're doing. So I'll tell you first hand how he holds up in that tourney at least (BTW, anyone in the vecinity of Omaha, nebraska, get your *** down to FFC on Saturday).
But what was said before is very true. BOwse has increased my patience immensely. When you fight nothing but charaters faster than you, you get used to taking three hits to there one and you don't get flustered when you're being owned for a second. In that aspect he's really improved my Marth game.

If the competition isn't going to be too good and you know it already, flip flop your order. Bowser is WAY better 1 on 1 than 2 on 2 because he's too big for 2 on 2. You fight in a small level and you'll be dead and everyone will still have 2 stock left and you'll be forced to steal your teammates lives. Or win the first round, then switch to Bowser if you won it handily, and if you lose, switch back to Marth. Don't be afraid to intimidate people... EVERYONE is afraid of losing to Bowser.

But there are no little secrets with Bowser that anyone can still extract from him. He is too slow to win against certain characters. The Ice Climbers have desynced moves, and a very good wavedash, not to mention crazy chain grabs. Bowser has none of that.

eh, your probably right, but I still think Bowser has mad combo potential. well, on fastfallers anyway. and feeble characters go flying. i dunno, its probably just me.

The advantage that I say bowser has over The sheik, marth, and falco's of the world (and actually he has this over pretty much any other char in the game) is that he's actually at his best between 75% and 175%. Before then it's difficult to do much but shield grab and fortress your way out of many moves (well and of course fair and nair...I'm slowly starting to appreciate a L-canceled nair. It has some serious uses. Its a weak move but it's quick for a bowse move with decent knockback, and if you L-cancel it it removes the window of vunerability it has).
So it is kind of quirky that damage is his friend to a degree.

Ugh, i still have to write my Bowser guide...I'll write it if I have a good showing at the tourney tommorow, otherwise I wouldn't feel justified even trying to suggest how someone may want to play Bowser...Wish me luck kids, being that I'm one of the 6 Bowser players @ SWF.
