Flying Cyclone

I'm watching this fight with luigi and pika in japanese and luigi winds up getting knocked to the side and to get back up he uses his cyclone and it's not like Mario's where you go up the same length as his upB but when luigi did it he flew up in the air and made it back and i'm just wondering if anybody knows how to do this.

With both Mario's and Luigi's down B, the faster you press the B button, the farther you go up. I think that's what you're looking for, isn't it? I'm not sure what you mean by going up the same length as his up B.

yeah i had seen it on one of those japanese videos and he went right up in the air (Not like the link glitch) but about the same height as mario's upB

if i'm not mistaken, i've already heard of this (can you show me the video ninja?). but i think the guy who plays this luigi taps B just crazy fast. i've heard he taps B so fast in mario party, the game doesn't read it. i personally don't know, that's what i remember from another post... but show me the video because i want to see it anyway :)

Judging by how much Luigi got into the air,I'll guess he can press the B button about 14 or 15 times a second. I can press a button 12 times a second,it's not really anything special. =/ Also,to press a button fast enough for the game to not register the button,you would have to press the button faster than the speed of electricity. Which is hard.

Yagi, I couldnt have said it better myself... but i'll try.
you just have to push it fast enough to make the button no have time to reset itself thus pushing the button down before it comes up. the pelican N64 controllers were really infamous for this.

just tap B a lot. i can almost get as high as that luigi, but i dip right before i go really high. but for trying for like, 30 minutes, doing that tornado thing really isn't that hard, just work out your thumb :chuckle: .

I can push the button maybe 6 times a second...
Yeah I know I suck at mashing.

Anyway, has anyone here found a good use for the tornado except for recovering when you're a maniac at mashing?

Yah.. Use it to eat through projectiles and attack during their lag.
Use it as a get-me-out-of-here move when you're near the edge.
Use it as an alternative to teching when appropriate (say after a Marth/Roy fthrow)
Use it as an attack whenever you know you'll get both hits in.
Use it to cover yourself in the air where its hitbox will come in handy.

to do the tornado in the air you have to do it at least once on the floor first, one of my friends discovered this, you just have to tap fast in the air that's all

this has been known about for years now
but i will post it again for those that don't know about it

around when the game first came out kamaal (a former member of DA) found out how to make the cyclone rise in the air

for some weird reason if you do one cyclone on the ground
the next one you do if it's in the air wil rise if you tap the button at about the same rate you would with doc or mario

don't know why it works this way but thats how you go about doing it

on the ground you don't have to press B rapidly you can just do it and "store" it so to speak
