View Full Version : Falco vs Sheik
I don't think this topic has been made yet so here goes...
I want to know how Falco can deal with sheik. I've heard that this can be a even match depending on the skill of the players.
1) I have a problem hitting sheik sometimes with my SHL.(Ducking/dashing)
2) Are there any real combos that falco has over sheik?
3) needles. nuff said
4) lastly how do you edge guard sheik, she tends to teleport under the spike.

1) Practice. A proper SHL will hit a crouching Jiggly. When Sheik's dashing at you, if close, will not be greatly effected by a laster anyways. CCing or sheild-grabbing is your friend.
2) CC/dash-A U-tilt helps. Others can fill in here.
3) You CAN reflect, but there's not too much point to. SHing will sometime keep you over them, and SHLing properly can disrupt her charging/animation(it must be noted though, the needles also disrupt your SHL. Duh.)
4) TRY to anticipate, and F-smash when she reapprears. That, or edgehogging as usual. Doing a ledge-hop(tap down, jump) followed by a nair can keep her flying.
good luck.

Noof said dude! very good tactics, but all of that is good but sometimes u have to know how the Shiek player plays. And alot of training will do u perfect, L-canceling, shl, and very good accuracy.

Try as I might- I couldn't have said it better ;) .
Pratice. Don't accidentally mash the wrong buttons.
Just to note: against a dash-A-happy Sheik, shield grabbing is YOUR BEST FRIEND(in my exp, B/F-throw is nice. Follow up as you please. Mix up with shuffled Dairs)

Actually, I consider Fox and Falco solid counters against Shiek.
1. RexMaster is correct - SHL can hit a crouching Shiek consistently with enough practice. As for when Shiek is dashing at you, I find a short hop dair effective. It avoids the dash attack, and sets up for shine combos.
2. I haven't had much experimentation with CC, but utilt is very useful. However, it does not touch the combo power of the amighty SHINE!
3. I usually deal with needles with a shield (not reflector; too much stun time) or a sex kick. The needles are obliterated upon contact with Falco's foot, and it's all good. For singular needles, you can just SHL (though i still prefer sex kick). A needle and a laser will cancel each other out, and since Falco fires faster than Shiek can, you won't be hit if you're good with SHL. Now, if Shiek intends to come down from the air with needles and charge in for a grab... you're pretty much screwed unless you run. Even if you shield the needles, Sheik will still get you during the shield stun.
4. Oooh, I love edgeguarding. Sheik is a dastardly one. It's extremely difficult for most characters to hit her before she teleports. So, anticipate. Edgehog to prevent Sheik from getting the ledge, and when she lands on stage, leap on and try to hit her with a bair if she's close enough. If not, a dair will suffice. This will set her up for the aerial of your choice (I LOVE shine to uair - it can even get kills on low ceilings, or if Sheik is really high percentage) However, Sheik has two options to sweetspot the edge, if you don't edgehog. The first one is to use the first part of the up b to grab the ledge, cancelling the teleport. Not much you can do about that. If she is too far for the option as has to use the second part of the up b to teleport INTO the ledge, use dsmash! I've never had a problem hitting a Sheik in this manner; of course it's possible that the people I play against mess up the sweetspot frequently, but I think Sheik is vulnerable for a fraction of a second when she appears on the ledge. How's your timing?
uhhhh
im playing some high level sheiks so some of these things dont work.
1)when i try to approcah(sp) with SHL she ducks then when im just about to Dair, she WDs away. Then we're back to where we were.
2)shine-shine spike seems to be working.
3)the sheik i play jumps then needles. I shield v_v
4)still need help
5)her dodging is evil.... like when she misses a tech and rolls back but im not i range for a fast attack. So i run and try to grab. SHE DODGES(WTF SHE HAS WAYYYYYYYYY TOO MUCH TIME TO DODGE). then she grabs me. and getting grabed by sheik = death

Laser > needles.... vary it. if sheik is crouching just keep shooting, no need to approach.
combos, umm blinker combos. falco can pull of some sick blinker combos vs. sheik. laser grab, laser dsmash combos. tech follow
edgeguarding, edgehog almost always. for there you can do lots o things

Practice your SHB, you can make it lower.
Yes, shine combos, or shine, spike, tilts. Otherwise, the combos that work against everyone should be enough.
Needles... hmm, aerial needles: jump over and away, land with blasters. Actually, always try to jump over, BUT watch out for aerial needles into fair (since there's no lag after aerial needles for the landing). Try not to recover at ledge level, cause you'll just get horizontal needles in your eyes and die more. MORE!
Edgeguarding Sheik with Falco: Laser Spam, edgehog. When she does the up+b, see if she gets back on the stage. If she doesn't, good! (duh) If she does not, ledge attack with a bair to get her back in the pit if you can, wavedash back onto stage and dsmash her back in the pit or fsmash the other way. Otherwise you can pull an Evil Knievel and try to attack in the hole to do some crap.
