DI doesnt matter on pulling of the move, but it does matter for spacing. I wouldnt worry about DIing the move until you can pull it off consistently. These are two points that should help you get the move off:

1) Get off the first F-air as soon as possible. I believe most people slide their thumb from the jump button to the A button, instead of hitting each button seperately. If you're fingers are fast enough, go for it, but slide input works best for me.

2) Learn the timing for the 2nd F-air. Its almost right before Marth hits the ground. Spamming the A button is a bad idea. Some people suggest going to training mode and doing it 1/2 time or 3/4. Thats stupid, that will just mess up your timing. Learn to do it against a Lvl 1 computer.

Once you can do the move consistently, make sure you L-cancel the 2nd F-air. And once you can do that, learn to chain them together. And once you can do that, learn how to do the 2nd f-air using the c-stick, so you can DI backwards after the first f-air, so you always stay in front of your opponent, and also so they can't shield grab you. Chaining f-airs with Marth is awesome.

on a side note, if you are able to do Samus' double missle in air, then you should be able to do this. same concept except you have to slide your thumb from the jump button to the b button. dunno, just thought if you happen to be familer with Samus that may've given you some sorta hint.

Dunno if you aspire to be a Roy player at any point, but Marth and Roy's aerials start at and end at the same time (if not so close that it doesn't matter) and if you master Marth's fair rhythm then you can incorporate it into your Roy's playstyle.

Yeah, I noticed that, I barely ever play Roy but his fairs seem like second nature ^^ Just have to keep the fall speed dif in mind.

Does the second fair swing all the way through? When I try this technique, I *think* I get it OK, but Marth doesn't finish his second fair before hitting the ground. It's enough of a swing to hit someone with, but not the full thing. Is that the idea? Or can I be even faster?

The 2nd fair doesnt finish, but the sword should get all the way to the ground.

It's actaully faster to not let it swing all the way.. that's how I do my single fairs most of the time.

I hate to tell you this, but the only way to be able to double fair with any consistency is to practice it. To do 2 fairs in one short hop you need to be able to do the first fair quickly and have good timing on the 2nd fair, like the other guy said, but all that comes with practice. Just work at it and you'll get it with time.

Fatman is right, if u wanna do it just practice it, and ull eventually find ur own method that suits u, me personally i just did slide imput(click y then slide down to a) and it works good, then i just started to click y a then a real fast, and now ive just found somethin in between that works perfect, it has to do with timing, and its all preference

Ahh, so the X botton ain't really the better way to do it. :p

It's a lil bit harder for me since i am used 2 short hop with X, but doing the fairx2 is more easier with Y. Sadface=me :(

Agreed, Ive been practicing this too and having a problem for the same reason, its hard training myself to use Y instead of X when I've always used X. Not to mention that I can never get the first Fair to come out by sliding my thumb.

just practice, itll eventually become easy, i can c-stick both of them and i jump with X, and i dont even really think about it, practice it enough and its easy
