Mario VS Characters Rankings

I'd like to know how Mario does against all other 25 characters.

Because of Mario's "averageness" he tends to do very well vs. most everyone. His moveset is very versatile and really just requires that you change up your style/approach/whatever when facing whoever. His most difficult matchups are against the char's that can either out-range him(Roy,Marth,Links), or out speed+power him(sheik,falcon,ganon). Mario is one of the char's who tends to do pretty well vs the space animals(Fox,Falco) because of his quickness and he has a sickly easy time edgeguarding the two. Givin experience against the char your Mario is facing, Mario has a real good chance vs. the rest of the cast. I dont really think that mario goes into any match the underdog. This is all from my experiences and is my opinion, if others differ, I'd like to hear them. I always like to hear what char's others' Mario's have had trouble and success against.

Mario is the Main Character in SSBM, so his versatility fits for his imago.
HAL did a great job in Mario, considering that he´s the character you can play against anyone and stand at least enough change.

Fox does better than Mario against a lot of characters. That's just one reason.

Despite that quote, Mario does have few lopsided matchups; mainly Marth and Roy like what that other guy said. It's very hard for Mario to get inside on both characters, and against Roy, getting inside Mario's optimum range puts him right in Roy's "comfort" zone--an area Roy is inherantly better in.

Mario's main problem is that he lacks a reliable kill move. F. Smash is nice, but you don't get alot of opprotunities to land it unless it's given to you. Mario can rack up damage just as good as anyone, but just lacks that consistant (read: abusable) finishing blow necessary to KO an opponent without edgeguard.

I don't support the current tier list which presently represents him as "high tier". I think he belongs in mid/mid tier at best (or as people have stated, "average").
