I've been fooling around with a couple of characters, and one particular question that's come up is where exactly on Roy's sword do you have to hit in order for it to spike? Thanks in advance for any help.
With the hilt of the sword. To connect, the enemy has to be literally behind and slightly above Roy, sort of "into" him. Something similar to Jiggs' Rest, IMO. Just download Roy's HRC vid and you'll see how to connect with it.
Oh, and this isn't exactly a viable move in serious play... =).

I spent a few days trying to find a way to fit this spike into my game, and discovered that it just doesn't work. If you try to spike by the edge as a marth would it sends them at an angle back onto the stage. It's also kinda hard to pull off, and pretty risky.

For it to spike, the opponent has to be directly above Roy or at his back, touching it. These are two different spots.
For some fun in a non-serious match: When you send them off the edge, jump off, fast-fall, and when they are just above you (they are touching your head or just above it), press down A. you should spike them. Of course, you are NOT going to make it back, no matter what. It's also very risky, in seeing how your opponent can tell your coming after them and avoid it (or at least make it so it doesn't spike). I find it fun every once in a while, but it should in no way be used in a serious match, unless you are a life ahead, they are on their last stock, and you know you could kill them if you didn't with the suicide.
