What is a good combo starter for pika? I use to play him but got away from him. My guess is maybe the down throw but i just haven't played him in so long.
Whats a good edgequard besides fsmash?

dthrow is a ****ty combo starter; there are a few rare situations where damage, weight, and DI come together to let you string a dthrow to a usmash or something, but don't rely on it. uthrow, usmash, utilt, uair, nair, and dsmash all have situational and damage-dependent uses. also, pika can chain grab FF'ers from 0-~60 with uthrow.
religious use of fmash and tailspike to edgeguard.
hurray.

allright sweet i was just trying to give myself other options for the edgequarding. So fsmash is your best option. For most characters d throw is a good combo starter or at least the ones i play( DOC, G&W, SHEIK,) so i kinda figured pika would be the same.

most of the other suggestions are better than dsmash.

Tail spike and F-smash for edgeguard.... how about D-air? Pretty nice to smack some character out their recovery and too far out to return. Fox and Falco are, of course, most vulnerable to it but it works wonders on anyone who has a somewhat predictable pattern when recovering ^^
As for combos, I'm not entirely sure what moves are best, I just find Pikachu can chain between some attacks quickly and it's mostly dependant on damage/weight/DI etc.

for range and speed reasons, i would much rather use nair than dair.

i would still use d-air to edgeguard especially if u can attack them from above. if u n-air against fox's fire fox then u will both be hit. but if u d-air fox's fire fox u can knock him back and take no damage.

A good combo starter is his Neutral A aerial, fast and easily fast falled into an L-Cancel, it also leads easily into an up smash, which can lead to other combo's such as up aerial, or at higher percentages into a thunder. Or you could lead the neutral A into a forward smash at lower percentages, that also works.
And as for edge guarding, you can throw a thunderjolt at the opponent when he is attempting to recover and position him for a real edge guarding move like the forward smash.
