I'm new to the boards, just thought I'd say "hey," and give a little background info (I hate first posts, :\ ). I've been perusing these forums for a while now, and finally decided to register. I bought SSBM the day it came out, and have played it fervorously ever since. I used to almost always play Link, and was the dominating player in the group of friends I play with. I figured that if I went to any kind of tournament, an insane Fox/Sheik player would hand me my *** on a silver platter, so I decided to try out some other characters, to surf the web and see what advanced levels of play were like, and to up my game some. Naturally, forums were some of the best places. After much practice, I've mastered L-canceling, WD'ing, and a plethora of other advanced techniques, all of which I've learned here. Needless to say, I've seen vast improvements in my overall abilities to play the game, with more than one character, at that (I suck with Link compared to my others, now). I've even taught my friends alot of these new techniques, and I have a much greater challenge (and more fun) playing against them.
The moveset of Fox with Falco's combo abilities appealed to me. I'd been playing Fox/Doc/Ganon (and some C. Falcon) for about a month now, and I decided to pick up Falco and see what he was like. I'd already become a demon with Fox, and figured a transition into Falco would be interesting. I've fallen in love with the SHL and with Falco's low percentage combos, as well as the roughly 11X% KO's on many characters. Did I mention that I love his combos? :chuckle:
Also, one technique that boosted my overall performance with him is the shielded WD. I wavedash using R and Y, as opposed to L and X/Y. To pull off a relatively easy shielded wavedash, I hold the L button while WD'ing with Y and R. I've noticed some people commenting on this being difficult, and just thought I'd share a tip; sorry if there have been topics on this before or anything.
Anyway, just thought I'd drop a line, and I look forward to posting here. :D
Edit: grammar.
