Hookshot cancelling

Kind of like Samus's Beam cancelling, I have seen that this works, but I am curious if it would have any real uses? (dont get quite the height). Possibly pull a bomb? Throw your rang into the level like a useless monkey?

Link does not go very high, but a bomb pull may be possible into an Up + B. Maybe Y. link goes higher? (haven't tried). Any ideas?

I recently tried this again out of nowhere and it seems Y. Link can get a decent amount of height. This can cause surprise and throw off would be edgeguarders, or allow you to pull a bomb before your up and b. It seems to be more of a Y. Link tech.
