The Norcal/Bay Area/ DBR Challenge Topic

[The GERM]

OK, I've never ever seen a California discussion topic, more or less a Norcal one, so I took it upon myself to create one because I know Norcal is more than just Isai........

Anyone from Norcal feel free to try to find smashers or challenges from your area, or make challenges. We (DBR), are the 6 man smash wrecking crew from Concord, we have been a crew for about a year and a half now and we have yet to find any competition near in the Bay Area that are willing to play regularly besides the V-town Crew from Vallejo, Isai, and of course Mattdeezie and company but I don't even think they play smash anymore. We are always open to any challenges from anyone even if you think you suck and just need someone to practice with. So if anyone is from the bay area, San Francisco, Berkeley, Oakland, Pittsburg, even San Jose, please post and maybe we can set up a nice date to have a huge smashfest or a possible tournament very soon.

Even if you're not living in the bay area but are still in Northern California, please feel free to post any challenges, accept challenges, or just discuss any topic at hand........

I think this its a great idea for the bay area. Don't worry about not enough people, I know like 30 peple off the top that I know would want to smash in a tourny are waiting for another tournament here plus 5 different schools I can tell my friends to spread the word of a smash fest : ) yes they are somewhat china-towny. By the way, I used to live 5 minutes away from chinatown so im not in that category Malva heh..

If you guys wanna play during a weekend, just him me up on AIM before hand and tell me how many people are coming and I can pick you guys up from bart or something. Ahhh that's what's great about the bay, we have BART........

The last time you came over Scamp, I think I was in Las Vegas........or was I? But yeah, you and Sam should play Trebor and Zack in teams, they're pretty hard to beat, I think it's because they use the same strats you and Sam use, like, stay behind Sam and down smash kinda thing, you know what I'm talking about. whatever happened to those Tilt tournaments? wasn't Pat running that? or was it that ummmmm.....tall....black guy with glasses? I don't know how else to describe him, I don't even know his name. We should try to get those up and running again though, if not, I can find some nearby arcade that can maybe let us hold monthly's over here but we'll definately have a smashfest during Thaksgiving vacation. Do you know any arcades in Berkeley maybe that will let us hold tourneys?

wow..montlys. it'll be alot of work but I believe sooner or later you will have this down and be in control. its really a ***** trying to give a ssbm tournament in a 30-minute lunch period at my school in game club o.O Setting up tourneys at arcades is not only a nice enviorment to play in and many people who go to this arcade on a regular basis will be joining too. anyways, is Berkeley like in the middle off all of us? location will probably the most important thing..and no mitchel is not on boards but I will make sure he does once he gets his internet back in like a month

gotta a slight crew in frisco, just me and some stanford boys from back in the day. we play pretty regularly. any tournaments you wanna throw well come. besides that IM at HolyKrow if you ever just wanna spar with us. we need some GOOD practice.

Hello.

I am running a league starting Saturday at my house in Salinas, about 1 hour south of San Jose. Our league will go early Saturday afternoon, Monday night and the following Saturday afternoon where we will crown our first champ.

You all are welcome to come to the competition. We're starting a format where the winner will hold the Monterey Bay Smash League trophy (whoever wins in the finals on Nov. 13) and keep it until he/she loses another match (the first title defense is yet to be determined). To see the trophy leave Salinas...that'd get everyone in the area to practice harder.

I know I'm the only one here representing my area (most of us who compete post on another game message board or don't have internet connections). I've only had the chance to talk to two from the NorCal area who don't live in Salinas; one who came to my tournament back in April, the other at TG^, so I'd love to meet more players so I can gain some knowledge.

There is a pretty good smash following in Salinas.

Ok...im here rpresenting the monterey county{from salinas]...And a source told me to shout out for the players here...Im happy to see there are more "good" smash freaks. Anyway the next monterey cup we're having starts nov 6...This will determine the next best player in monterey countey. so if anyone is interested...come along. the last cup we had i won so i guess currently im the champ. But i broke the medal darn. Go for it ppl...this time the prize is a cup.

You're representing the Salinas:eek: ? That's a little strange. You'd think that I would. I'll say WE are since (at the risk of soundy cocky or conceited) we are the best around here. I honestly don't know whether you are better than me or not, but I don't think so.

Now that I have all of my midterms done, I'm going to try to get a tourney set up at the school I'm attending (Cal State Hayward). It would likely take place after our league competition in Salinas.

Um...ya, I haven't played any of the people on the forum yet, but I haven't been beaten by the people I have played. I have watched the replays of some of you and I think I would do pretty well. I am at UCSC right now and I am pretty much in Santa Cruz year-round. I go home for Thanksgiving and Christmas, but I would love to play anyone up for the challenge. You mentioned having the name on the trophy. I was actually thinking of getting name plates (much like the WWE World Heavyweight Title) and having them put on for whoever wins. But I'll think of that later, could get messy.

We'll have a bunch of league competitions after we crown the first champ, so there's plenty of time to come on down (and take the trophy lol). Go celebrate your b-day.

And then there's the big area tourney...Monterey Bay Thunder 5, coming up hopefully in late January or at least by Valentine's Day.

I'd really like to see someone go up against Final Fox, since every other Fox he's faced so far he's tore up.

No, I don't know what you mean about our team strategies. How can I sit behind Sam when he's always killing himself? If I did that we'd both die.

I'm not in Berkeley right now, I'm in Davis. Doing the college thing, which is why it takes me so long to reply to crap. I don't know of any arcades that would let us run a console tournament. I think the Tilt tournies died because of lack of turnout.

Could you make me a Peach banner with the evil eyes and the like? I think that'd be cool. And maybe add a shadow covering half her face. And perhaps replace one of her hands with a metallic hand with some blood on it.

The Fox players that he played against weren't too good though, because mostly the good players around here don't use Fox, except for him. It probably would be a good match though. Oh and our crew will take on DBR. You guys better watch out for TWAP:p . j/k, you guys would probably tear us up, but we'll see...
