View Full Version : two projectiles in one jump

i learned this neato trick when watching a japanes video, you can fire a charge shot then a smash/homing missle, or 2 smash missles in one jump, no double jumping or any such required, just a plain ol' jump. yeah, heres pretty much how it works
1. full jump
2. smash missle/power beam(charged or uncharged)
3. smash missle/homing missle(only if step 2 was power beam)
4. something else, step 3 got missle canceled
with power beam, this is pretty darn easy, just make sure you don't wait to fire, do it as soon as you jump, it should release a little below the peak of your jump
with step 2 being a power missle, holy **** its hard. i don't have action replay or any such frame countin' devices, but i estimate the margin of error has gotta be like 3-6 frames. because of this you can't use homing missles, since they fire i believe 4 frames slower than smash in the air.
does anybody already use this? i've never seen any americans use it, but then again, my only american samus vids are of wes.

the difference in firing is 6 frames i believe (or 8), but the total lag of both is the same as it is on the ground, so with the super you have more lag afterwards. So the homing will have less lag than it does on the ground, but it is still 10 frames longer than the super. The usues of this are good, but not always because the first missile is so high.

i asked super doodle man (the frames master) the exact margin of error, and he says its 5 frames (1/12 of a second) so yeah, keep practicing.
and i just checked his frame charts, smash missle is 49 frames total, homing is 59(i think regardless of air or ground, didn't say anything about it) so its definately impossible to use a homing missle in the 2 missle thing. i'm not certain about power beam then homing missle, it'd be close, but it might be possible, i'll go try.
yeah, its possible to power beam than homing missle. that one is pretty hard to do too, though

The total lag of the missiles are not dependent on whether or not they are used in the air or from the ground. Samus' jump is somewhere around 75 frames right? or was it like 89 or something?
Also, since you say the window is 5 frames, and proceed to list several ways to do this, but each has a different total frame count, do you think you could clarify a little?
ie. 2x Super - (# of frame window)
Beam, Super - #
Beam, Homing - #
And whatever other combinations there are

yeah, that occured to me after i asked that i could just check frame charts. oh well

I don't have my smash right now so I can't check this out, but can you shoot a super missle first and then her charge shot in a single jump? Now that I think about it, I think I did it before. Or, it could've been after a double jump :D

it was most likely during a double jump, since when you'd do the missile first, you'd be sitting there with 35+ frames of lag before you could start to shoot your beam, by which time you'd most likely be on the ground.

I do the charge shot to missile cancel but i find extremly hard to get a missile to missile like the japanesse samus does with ease -_-".
My mate (smashbros, top 15 btt, amazing tech skill) can do this and he doesnt use samus so its annoying. i sometimes jump, shoot missile, rejump before hitting the ground and missile cancel on the ground. this of course isnt as good as the normal missile to missile trick but a heck of alot easier.
meh, its not THAT tough, try using the control stick to jump, that makes it a lot easier.
