I was using Falco on a friend's SSBM disc, and I noticed that his dair would only send people straight down, instead of at a slight angle. Of course, this seriously inhibited the way I played. I have version 02, do different versions change the way Falco spikes?

I think it's all in the way you hit your opponent, I've even had spikes that send a person upwards (iniated the attack way to early) I'm not sure if versions differ, but I highly doubt it.

Um, I think this has almost always been the case. Falco's down kick against players always shoots them almost straight down. The only time I've seen otherwise is against computers, where, for some reason, they get shot down at an angle (I think the computers try to make it convenient for you to kill them or something).

In the PAL version of the game, falco's spike has two stages, the spike stage and the after effects stage. If you connect with the spike stage, then the opponent gets spiked downwards however, if you hit with the after effects stage, then the opponent gets sent upwards. This only happens in PAL, in NTSC the move spikes no matter when you hit the opponent.

yeah, but it can spike in different angles... i'm not sure how much di effects it and how much the move properties effect it, though...

This just in: the dair is un-di'able

I'm not sure about this, but I think it's the placement of the dair that determines the trajectory your opponent is sent flying. If you hit with the edge of his leg, as in with his thigh or something, your opponent is sent at a slight angle. Connecting with the very base of his foot (I think) sends your opponent straight down.

Just a thought.

This move can spike at many different angles, and as far as I know, it's dependent on where on Falco's body the move actually hits the opponent. Like if it hits up on his hip, I'm pretty sure they get sent at an angle downwards, but if his feet impacts them it is straight down. This is the best I know to describe it. I have no idea how the versions of the game alter this, or if they even do at all.

Used to play as Falco, and now I tinker with Luigi. From what I can tell, Luigi's Dair and Falco's are very simular meaning how they have different effects depending on where in the move you connect. Dont quote me on this, but I think its in sections. Front of legs, toes, heel, back of legs/butt. I think I heard this somewhere on the boards at on point, though it could have been some place else. =/

I do think it hits at a slight angle for me, When I am firefoxing toward the ledge and the **** spike is waiting for me, they don't move from the ledge and still hit me down. So yes, it does hit at a slight angle when your hitting someone coming at you from below at an angle/

Hahahaha. Bull****. I've DIed it and Wallteched the mother ****er.

If you're edge guarding, do a down smash. It eats them like no one's bizz. I'm still of the 'old school' falco that spikes.... and it doesn't work as well anymore :P.

I play a falco and I've sent people down 45 degrees at the speed of light, lol. Most of the time you can pull this off easily near the edge, sh dair them or shine them to send the opponent up, then follow with a sh dair, this is a okay combo that can rack up damage, and eventually they'll die.

So all in all, if you hit with the side of falco's legs with dair, you can send at different angles, if you hit them, but it doesn't look like it (kind of like jiggs' pound) then you can even send them as much as 45 degrees quickly.
