Help!!!

I learned of this new wavedash technique from a couple of my friends who like to visit these boards and go to melee discussion and I can only seem to do it with the more tiny players. Like Luigi, and Mario. I use bowser as my main. I know...he sucks but he's my fav. do you guys know how to wavedash for bowser? All of my other friends that have been on smashboards for months know how to do it with Bowser and I can't. Everytime I ask they just laugh at me. Help me plz!!! How long would it take for me to master this btw?

the reason you're probably having trouble is because mario and luigi jump faster than bowser, so what you should do is dodge towards the ground a little later than you usually would, to give bowser enough time to get off the ground.

wavedashing with bowser is too slow usually anyway... you want to play him as fast as possible. If you see someone wavedashing against you with bowser you should laugh. It's only useful if you know your opponent well enough to the point where you can wavedash backwards and hit the forward smash... and that is rare in itself.

I had a feeling I was doing it too fast. Usually I would just give up and think that Bowser has no normal wavedash, maybe you have to do it a different way. Anyways thanks. I'll modify my timing and use the wavedash as necessary

Arash do you wavedash into attacks with bowser? Were you at TG and did you see captain jack do it?

i almost never use the thing, and neither does captain jack...

but his edgeguarding is so good it took me 6 matches to figure out how to get past it, and even then my survival relied more on him messing up:(

what were your matches with captain jack like... did you ditto him? you gotta let me know what it was like... and once bowser gets bowser off the edge there is no reason besides screw up that you should get back so you're okay there... but post I wanna hear what it was like

i mirror matched him like 7 times over that weekend, 3 of which were in a set. the first time, he was close to 4-stocking me, but after i got the hang of it it always went down to the last life, but he kept winning except for the very last match..

someone was taping the match that i won, but the guy disappeared before i could get to him, and i think he lived in japan, so unless they're reading this post and want to upload it on DC++ or something, no dice there.. but it was great, and if you wanna play jack, he's probably coming to the MLG finals at the end of the month in NYC, so keep your eyes peeled:)

What was he doing so well that he was close to four stocking you though? Like... I understand once you get hit off the ledge vs a Bowser you SHOULD be killed... but what were his opening moves on you the whole time in the beginning that allowed him to get the first hit in and then the next ones in succession like that? And did he Pancake a lot or did he do the other directional throws more?

i think the biggest thing was he had this mind game where he'd run as if to dash grab, and all of a sudden up+B out of nowhere... other than that, it was just perfect execution of every tiny detail.

I'm also interested in how much he flame cancels, if your version supported it. ::has gone so long without flame cancel:: Or just firebreath in general

I WD with him... Don' laugh at me.. I WD just to preserve my initial dash. And it's not slow.. It's just slower than all the other WD's. #_#

But my advice for anyone else would be... Don't... Not until you're really ready to experiment with it.

Are you sure he was L-canceling the fair? I've been using delayed fair/fastfall as a fakeout for a while, since you don't need to L-cancel itif you touch ground fast enough. You can fake into an... Umm... I'll start a thread about this later... and update this post later.. gotta' eat.

I will prolly never fight jack ever. I was just askin how he played cuz I heard good stuff about him. I still don't see why the dash into fortress is really good though...
