Shield Dashing is where you wave dash outa shield for those who didn't know. I'm talking about Link Shield wave(duh) ok I started doing this and this technique seems pretty much useless to Link the only way it comes in handy is Shield dashing to Grab and that rarely works and why do that when I can just Shield grab, so what other ways can this move come in handy or does anyone else use it?

I use it a lot for opponents that like to stay close to me. I do it mainly for quick escapes, like wavedashing back then jumping back to boomerang or something of the sort. I also do it to get closer to the opponent, because more than likely they won’t expect me to get closer to them when they see me shield, and hitting them with A, A A, or A A A is a really effective tactic. It gives you more control and you can use it to help adjust your positioning when you want to.

Links Wave Dash is slow we all know this but how would it work against like a Fox or Falco the second you wave dash outa shield it's lazer spam forward smash =/ or they shield stun you to a grab against a fox because Links wave dash is so slow and his first swing with A is slow Foxs jab will beat it his Grab with beat it or his shine will.

Uhh, that’s where mind games come into play. A technique won’t work unless you know how to use it. It’s too bad I don’t know any good (or at least decent) Fox players to make a video with so I can show the uses of this, but I do have a video (at last...) with a Sheik player and I wavedash plenty. It’s not ready yet but soon I should have it, just in case you want to see how I use the wavedash.

And Fox’s grab can’t beat Link’s A move. The reflector and jab, yes, but a human cannot react that fast to a move as fast (and yes it has good speed) as Link’s A hit. It’s true that Fox and Falco have a lot over Link, but that’s not to say that his wavedash isn’t useful or that Link doesn’t stand a chance with it. Umm, sorry I didn’t want to turn this into a debate from being a discussion.

So yea, IM me at Lord HDL if you’re interested in seeing the video I made with a Sheik player. I’ll let you know when I have it.

Foxs Grab does beat it out since uh I tried this technique of yours while ago against a Fox the sound of Links sword started but he grabed me, Link normal A move isn't exactly a 1 frame attack it's, and I'm not saying Links Wave Dash is useless in a fight like this, nor am I saying his shield Dash is completely useless I do it but I just want to know what other good techniques can be used all I see is the one wave dash back to a grab.

dude, you gotta use it smart. usually I do it when my opponent goes airborn. like if Fox or Falco jumps or double jumps above and toward me, I'll sometimes sit there and block, he'll usually try to come down with an air down A or something. Since I'm just sitting there blocking, he expects me to just block the drill kick so he can do a quick shine right after. But right before he comes down with the drill kick, you wavedash back and grab as soon as he hits the ground. Links grab of course takes a while to come out, so you actually have to time it a little bit before he hits the ground, and badabing. The same thing works with like.....Falcon when you think he's about to knee, or Samus with her spike.

Another thing that's fun to do with the Wavedash out of shield is this, When I play a Falco that likes to run away and laser spam in place, I block one laser than wavedash forward than block another laser and wavedash forward, etc., until I'm close enough to either grab him or sex kick. Isai was doing it against my Falco a while ago, Falcon's wavedash is a little bit faster and goes a little bit longer than Links, but Link's still works pretty good I thinx.

In my experience with Marth. Shield WDing isnt as effective cause Marth sword and grab range beat out Link's WD. I really only do this move against character with no good long range and no disjointed hitboxes. (Swordsmen)

But it is good to do this move when they are in the air, this way they wont grab you when your WDing from shield.

With Young Link, because of his speed, against Marth, I usually use a WD when I'm really close, dodge roll around him, and boomerang him from behind. Marth has strong attacks with long range, but he is slow, adding to the efectiveness of this technique.
