ICs vs. Marth

What does everyone think the matchup is??? Give me a ratio outta 10. IE 6:4 marth, 5.5:4.5 ics

it strictly depends on the control of the marth. If the person has excellent control of marth, its 8:2 marth, maybe 7:3. strictly because marth can (and most definetly will) keep you a swords length at all times. jv3x3, i didnt know you played IC? I dont know how well they are going to work at SMYM with Nick there. He knows how to fight IC. And all this is assuming you arent Chu, or someone who can make IC like Chu.

But seeing as how their air game is sub par, their long distance game is non existent, and a good marth knows wont allow you to be close, then i find it hard to disagree with me.

I have serious issues in ICs vs. Marth. Marth outprioritizes and outranges almost every one of their attacks. When I play against Marth, I just ice spam, forcing him do come up to me. Then I just play evasively trying to get a grab in. Their good wavedash combined with de-synched blizzards give them excellent evasion.

Yeah, IC's suck against marth. At TGA I played some newb named Spinny, who played a C-stick spam marth(it was a tourney match) he beat my IC's with constant C-sticking, just because I couldn't get close enough to attack. He 2 stocked my IC's, but then I 4-stocked, and 2 stocked him with captain falcon in the next 2 matches. I heard Scav say IC's counter the entire first tier. I definitely agree for fox and sheik, but not marth because his range is just to good.

i'm going 8:2 for marth. if you can get some nice grabs in, he's dead and you're suddenly a magical stock up (he seems to be juuuuuust barely the right weight/fall speed to still fall into their evil OMGWTF I JUST DIED! comboes easily). normally, though, he's just all like, "HARHAR! I GOTZ TEH SWR0D OF POWAH!"

as much as I like IC I would have to say that marth has a little edge going into the matchup...

if IC can make him come to them maybe but it still won't be easy

wasup I'm a 14-year old who been playing smash since the beginning.I recently found this site using ma search engine.As I read through the forums I saw threads about some technicque called the triple shine.If anybody could enlighten me on this subject it would be greatly appreciatted

Yeah Long1918, you wanna take stuff like that into the fox/falco sections, not the IC's. But hey since you asked, triple shine is a combo with falco, where you shine (down-b) the opponent, jump, shine, jump, and then shine again. Hitting them with three shines, hence triple shine. Just make sure that next time you put these kinda questions in the right section next time. ^^

As for the IC vs Marth, I'd have to say 7:3 Marth. Although Marth outclasses IC's in range, it's not so bad that it would be an 8:2. Just ice spam and try to roll and grab, wave-grab or wave d-smash when theres an opening. Those are really the only attacks i can manage to get in on a good Marth, but whenever the opprotunity arises, it always seems to be pretty effective.

All-in-all, IC's are pretty screwed against a Marth, it really is a one-sided match, but if you can get in with IC, you can deal some major damage to Marth (like pretty much any other character.)

Since my last post in this thread, I've learned to take Marths fairly well. Everyone I practice with hates my uber-cheap-climbernominons, so they always counterpick me w/ Marth. Good practice...

You just have to treasure every grab, and squeeze in as much damage as you possibly can.

If ne thinz, u guyz should ask Neo/Azen. They LIKE mi IC'z :chuckle: .

But IC pretty much counterz every other Top Tier character, az well as a lot of the low tierz..... They jes have trouble against those dam peachez!!! >=(.

Chu is right peeps, ICS really do counter Marth. It's really easy to build up alot of damage once you get him grabbed, ie: grab w/ popo, then standard A followed by blizzard, to dthrow SH Fair and once you meteor then Wave smash. One thing you have to do to avoid marth's range is light-sheild Wave dashing. He can't hit you with deathblade if your sliding around like crazy :D .

But yes, Peach is the devil. If you don't believe me then PM bluk and ask him if ICS like downsmash in those exact words.
