well i was just practicing smash getting ready for the vgames finals. Well it was fox(me) vs cpu samus and i started punching her missles with just the tap of the A button. Then i decided to punch her missle with the second punch instead of the first so i hit A A timed it of course. Out of nowhere i do a mini wave dash after the second punch connects and could perform any move i wished without delay. I started to test it out on other projectiles and it worked again and again. To perform the mini wave dash with fox just hit any projectile with the second punch (A,A) and he will dash foward ready to strike. If anyone already knew about this usefull tick sorry.

Im guessing its because Fox moves forward when using the second ounch, hitting a projectile somehow makes strengthens it, so it becomes a kind of WD...

not sure though -_-

Wow, and the projectile doesn't damage him or anything? That sounds pretty cool if he just bypasses the projectile...I'll have to try it when I get home...I'm at my hole of a school now praying for the rapture.

It's like when you're shielding a strong attack and you are moved backwards. Fox's second punch blocks/cancels the projectile like Marth swinging his sword would, but since the punch makes Fox move forward, instead of being pushed back from the "block", the physics get weird and amplify his original movement. However, this trick is very, very situational, thus, not critically useful.

And this is in the wrong forum... I'm gonna move it to the Fox section of the character specific boards.

I haven't tested this out personally, so I cannot vouch that it is a viable counter-projectile technique, but if it works like he says it does than it could definitely become a useful technique. It is situational, but having to deal with projectiles is a situation you will find yourself in a LOT, and being able to deal with them is an extremely good skill to have. Many, many people struggle against projectiles (myself included) so it's always good to devise effective ways to deal with them, and attacking them is a method then tends to be forgotten. If this takes out the projectile and sets up for an attack, then it's probably pretty critical for Fox players to learn.

It's because Fox moves forward slightly when he does his second punch. When the missile and the punch collide the game still registers him as moving forward, so they cancel and he slides forward even more because of his traction. A few othe characters cna do this too. Luigi can use his down B while moving forward to collide with an attack and slide forward. Although I never thought of actually putting it to use....

Another thing to add to my training video. What should it be called? B/c I feel this could definately be a useful technique, even against other physical attacks. I think punch cancel is a good term LOL

How about clashdash? It's a clash cancel, and a wavedash. Get it?

Depends upon if Fox's second punch has enough priority or not...

just weak stuff, pills, non-smashed boomerang/missle, non-charged shadowball charge shot, fireballs thunderjolts and a couple more I'm sure.

Works good to set up a grab, particularly a fast dash grab. Good stuff. Or better yet, dash away and immediately hop and back kick to shine. If they try to come in, they take it, and if they sidestep, you shine. Gotta love it.

Who moved this from the MD to the CS? This is a general technique, although he did describe it while using Fox. A lot of characters can do this too, just with different attacks. I'd say whoever put this here move it back to the MD, and change the topic to Clash Dash, bc that's the new name.

This is soooo going into my next vid...
