stage choice is important. what do you think are good counter pick stages for using samus?
mine are:

fountain of dreams
final destination
dreamland 64
mute city
pokemon stadium

FoD- platforms for missile canceling and its possible to recover as long as you arent smashed straight out the screen in this stage with the beam at the bottom. the ceilings a bit low and you wouldnt pick it against some characters due to its size (e.g. marth) but overall a good stage.

FD- a big, flat arena. good for recovery, very wide which is good for samus. the ceiling isnt bad at all in this level, the ceiling is important when picking a stage for samus as thats where she gets KO'd the easiest. missile spamage can get anyone here.

dreamland 64- this is the best samus level IMO. she doesnt die in this level at all. loads of room out of the screen from the ceiling and the sides. platforms for missile spamage and lots of room for any combos or airial attacks. there are no characters that can do better on this stage than samus.

mute city- not a bad level.some tricks can be done from falling off the floating platform. when it stops moving theres platforms for missiles and lots of room for other stratagies. samus can stay in the air away from her opponent for quite a while here. this is where samus' amazing recovery sets her ahead of others like one of her main counter characters captain falcon.

pokemon stadium- a very good samus stage. similar to FD but with platforms to slip off for missile spaming. i like this level but it doesnt set samus well ahead like others. this is fair for all characters really. if youre in a match and the first stage must be agreed on this would be a good choice.

so what stages do you counter pick?

I don't like any of the DK stages for Samus. Rainbow cruise is a fun one as samus but avoid Falcon there.

I like FD, Corneria, Dreamland N64 and Brinstar Depths, but no one likes that stage except for me so that doesn't matter. ^ ^

Final Destination
Simple, good WDing ground and flat surface for Missile spammage. Samus has a rather large area for recovery, so that's a plus.

Corneria
I do a lot of camping on the right section of the stage, and the structure for the stage is perfect for tricks and mind games.

When recovering on the right-side, sometimes I surprise my foe by coming high air-dodging forward and grappling the fin.

Dreamland N64
What can I say? 3 platforms for all kind of cool Samus tricks, a wide huge area and the wind usually works to Samus's advantage. Nothing more.

Brinstar Depths
The main reason I like this stage is because Samus is the only character with full mobility (and Young Link, to some extent Jiggs).
That, and I'm the only one good on this stage.:D

I can safely vouch that Dreamland is the best Samus stage. I play against grayfox every week and it's dam near impossible to execute that pink spacesuit wearing ***** :). I use peach so 4 stock matches between us regularly go on for longer than 5- 6 mins, it's a nightmare.

If you were to play against a less knowlegable player in a tournament then try agree to neutral Dreamland, to the less experienced player it looks fair enough but little do they know what a nightmare it is ;).

Mute is probably the second option for Samus players, again it's one of those stages where samus just doesn't die and the moving cars can cause real problems for smaller lighter opponents. It's great for working off your opponent while Samus will regularly survive till 200+ %

Yoshi's story is an absaloute must avoid stage, the low ceiling and small platform area make surviving very difficult for Samus. I believe Samus is one of the annoyers a bit like peach and the longer you can stay alive the easier it is to frustrate your opponent, so ban this stage above anything else. Samus will not only get raped by Marth on this stage, but any character with a good up-smash, This is probably the only stage where you could say Fox had the advantage over Samus.

i think samus' best stage is either dreamland, FD, or brinstar. However, contrary to what many people might think, Yoshi's Story isn't really bad for samus, i consider it my 3rd best stage. the only thing about is to be sure never to pick it againt a marth for obvious reasons.

Yoshi story may be a bit small, but it is for other characters too, i was counter staged here for a long time, but i finally got used to the set up of it and realize that samus' moves can actually combo very well here. a sh uair will stop near the middle/end because you land on the platform, if you lcancel it you can lead into basicaly anything else, such as a dtilt, utilt, ftilt or sometimes even a fsmash. although if they're fastfallers, the best thing you can do imo is a usmash, unless they're at a very high percentage they will be hit by all of the flames and take anywhere from 15-24%. also, if they're on a platform, use a fair and then when you land out of that, follow up immediately with a uair.

As for brinstar, the acid kills fast fallers quickly, as they fall into it repeatedly before being able to jump out. but mosly, it's one of my favorite's because it's cool and i seem to do ok there.

anyway, i know this isn't like everyone else's worst stage, but mine is FoD, the moving platforms always screw me somehow and i just really don't like it much even though it has a big ceiling and large sides

Yeah, the rising platform constantly throws off my attacks.:(

You don't like FoD as Samus? I love FoD I seem to always do better there. I also got this really cool KO there too. I was fighting my brother's bowser there, I jump and shoot a missle at him, he air dodges and I kick him the Sex kick. I kicked him right into the missle which was on the opposite side of the stage. Coolest KO I've ever gotten other than my accidental hammer KO with kirby.

Yeah FoD rules. Its the only place where you can recover almost from anywhere. I mean nothing is better than grappling the little stick at the bottom wall jumping and screwattack back up. The look on peoples' faces when you do that is the best.

What are some good anti-Samus stages? I would think Yoshi's Island, but are there any more? Specifically for Zelda/Sheik and Peach

Sheik does very well against samus on Battlefield, i personally don't have too much trouble vs sheiks on Yoshi Story though. If that doesn't work pokestadium is another good choice i'd think, just because low ceilings/short sides.

For peach i'd say Yoshi story is a good bet, can kill samus off the top at a fairly low percentage, Pokestadium again, and possibly battlefield. I wouldn't really be one to say however, i seem to have troubles with Peach just about everywhere.:D

Peach seems to throw a monkey wrench into the whole idea of a samus stage. Most stages that are good for samus reccovery are also good for peach recovery.

I'm not quite sure what a good peach counter stage would be.

My instincts tell me mute city because I've beaten good peaches there.

Mute city is in peach's favor

Pick final D

Though i would pick yoshi's story.

Sure i would die just as easily, but i'd rather not give the peach the chance at living long either.

Just be a man and go with dreamland. It really doesn't matter greatly against Peach what stage it is as Peach and Samus share the same weaknesses and strengths really. Peach can KO from the top though and Samus can't very well. Look out for low ceilings. I would go with dreamland as i'm quite confident of my ability on that stage. Just go for what stage you are good at or what stage you know your opponent is bad at.

i said i dont like mute city against peach well i think my GC heard me. The other day i got hit by the cars on the track that looks like its off screen. I was off the screen bomb jumping my way back and got hit out of no where and died. EVeryone at first was dumbfounded. I thought well i didnt think the buildings could hurt you. But the person i was playing suggested it was the cars. It was so weird.

... anyway...

Didn't feel this needed a new thread, so here goes:

I have a really hard time on Peach's Castle. (Specifically against G-Dorf). There's very little horizontal room to fight and move around on. Missiles don't seem all too effective, G-dorfs Gerudo punch or whatever it's called usually goes through my missle, and if i side-step dodge it, he'll hit the wall in the middle which cancels his attack and leaves him free to hit me. His f-air covers a good amount of the stage, and I find I can't do much about it except block, or sidestep dodge, in both cases, g-dorf will l-cancel into a grounded neutral-a and then grab if I'm still blocking, or other stuff if I don't block.

Any advice and/or vids of Samus of Peach's Castle, specifically against G-Dorf?

i would just choose a different stage, or if you must play there, pick fox or something. Peach's Castle imo is a horrible samus stage because of the slopes and obstructions in the way. maybe it's just me but i think samus doesn't do real well on a stage that has a big vertical thing sticking out of the middle of the stage.

lol @ my old posts, wow, i remember making those i think.
