I made a small trick video with a few of Fox's advance techniques and some other cool stuff. It's being shared on the DC hub and it's call "Fox Trix.mpeg". As of right now I'm the only one who has it, but feel free to download it from me and let me know what you think.

THANKS! suicide_fox that video was pretty awesome, good music and great tricks. Double short hop laser is pretty sweet looking, I help you share the vid too in the hub!

Noone has it right now...I'll keep an eye out for it though. How big is it out of 56k curiousity?

It's 53 mgs. I could try to shrink it, but I'm afraid it will lose quality and it would be harder to see whats going on.
EDIT: Ok I made a smaller version of the vid. It's only about 12 mgs now. The quality is meh, but it's good for you 56k people. It's call fox_trix_small.mpg. If you are playing it in Windows Media Player, right click and change zoom to 200% to see it better.

Don't lift your thumb. Everyone does that when they play games on a console. DON'T LIFT YOUR THUMB OFF THE BUTTONS. Slide them around, it makes things easier, you just need to get the timing down and know button priority so you can slide over a button without it doing anything.
And people who can't connect with me try searching from other users. I am in passive mode since thats the only way I can get DC++ to work. If you are REALLY having trouble getting the vid IM me on AIM and I might send it to you so long as you have a high speed connection.

Finally got the vid after 6 hours of download, lol. It was good, but I think you should've made it shorter. There was too much double shorthop lasering. -_-

I've seen most of your video Suicide Fox, and I'll finish it when I get back home from school. Anyway: how did you do that wavedash onto the stage from the ledge? I can do that by pressing down and then wavedashing on, but not near as fast as you do it.
I was impressed with the reverse double laser and the really fast wavedash from ledge.
you're pretty good at the pivot, too!

Well, if you are pressing the same button you obviously have to lift your thumb to press it again, just don't lift it off the face of the controller. IE Lift you thumb enough so it's barely touching the button then press again.
Thanks to all you guys for the compliments.
Suretman: The way I figured it is to do this - Press away and jump at the same time, then rotate the control stick towards the ledge and when you get to forward/down press L or R. It takes a lot of practice. I'm still not perfect at it, but I can do it most of the time. I'm still working on making it instincitive like everything else I do with Fox.
Double Lase turnaround is really hard. First you have to master double laser LOL. When you leave the ground you have up to maybe 3 frames to press B otherwise you won't be able to do 2 before you hit the ground. So during those 3 frames just slap the control stick the other way and then press B. It took me a lot of practice. If you guys could see the amount of practicing all that **** with Fox to do it perfect you would puke. I'm talking hours that mount into days, into weeks. Maybe months... I dunno.
Pivoting s easy, but it's harder to do the longer you dash. It's not even that useful for attacking. It's better for shinedash combos and other jugglers and stuff. Maybe mindgames here and there.
As for the video itself, I have decided to make a FULL Training video with fox, accompanied by a full in depth guide that includes frame data, trajectory, hitboxs, everything I can figure out using AR or other tools. It may take me a while though, so don't be bugging me about it. Once i get some work done on it I'll post the stuff I'll have, and you guys can add to it from there and I'll turn it into a video.

Just finished watching it. Good stuff, really went well with the techno beat. The reverse SHL was my favorite part.

on one hand i give you props for trying to help people out and put stuff out there. But at the same time i feel like everyone should get the advanced stuff like lcanceling, wd, etc to be on the same level of knowledge as the top players. But past that i feel like they should have to go to tourneys and put their own time in to get the rest. It just dont feel like it should be some hand me down. You gotta earn it. I know ive spent hella time learning fox... figuring out stuff, getting stuff down, trying stuff out even. I feel like it should be acquired knowledge from spending your own time talking to people, going to tourneys, in training mode, etc. Not something boxed up in a nice little packgage. I feel like that slights the people that have put in the time and effort

that repeated reflector on the ground thing is nuts...
i just came up with that the other day before seeing this, and I can sort of do it with falco, but not at all with fox unless I slow time down

I agree. I figured out most of this stuff on my own, with help from my buddy Steve. He figured out it is possible to do this stuff, but I'm the one who was able to actually do it LOL. I have found out a lot of **** about Fox and the game in general. I'm not doing this as a hand-me down, I just would like to amp up the overall Fox skill in the community. I feel it's SEVERELY lacking, for good reasons tho. Fox is the hardest character to use effectively by far. So hopefully the training video (which includes even the basics) will help those in need of Fox techniques which can amp up their technical game. Plus a lot of new players want to really get into using Fox, but get destroyed because they can't use him well and feel he is too advanced for them to use. Eventually this could lead to someone who had an interest in smash to lose interest, making the smash community smaller.
Mindgames and strategy come from experience, so that kinda stuff you guys need to go learn on you own really. But I just wanna do my part to keep this game alive and kicking. The more you give, the more you shall receive :chuckle:

that repeated reflector on the ground thing is nuts...
Why does everyone suck at this? I think suicidefox only got it to about 5 times. I did it 118 times I think? somewhere around that... and I would have done more but I was moving my thumb into a more comfortable position cause it was hurting but then that messed me up lol. I'm not trying to sound cocky at all but I'm just curious cause to me it's easy and the only thing that I haven't been able to do with fox yet is infinite.

If I sat ll day I could do it perfectly for hours. In a real match, I can do average of 5 in a row. But in reality you only need to do it maybe 3 times in a real match. Most people would try to grab you after you shine, but rapid shine beats that out easy.
Suretman, did u hold the controller normally like you would in a real match or arcad style? And I got up to 8 in the video.

I did it 118 timesonly thing that I haven't been able to do with fox yet is infinite. ...? It is an infinite...
I havent seen the video... but if you talking about WDing down, yes thats nothing. But just jump-canceling it...
118 still is a **** lot though...

Hey, sorry Im new at this and I was wondering how I access the trick file casue Id really like to see it, after my first mlg tournament in Boston, I was thinking of picking up fox as another character...and I guess the video is a good way to see advanced stuff and start practicing.
Help is appreciated...as well as other general help if you guys are feeling really generous
...P.S. I resent the smashn00b comment next to my name...I know Im new but n00b is usually reserved for people who blow. And I don't think I blow...ask M3D I played him a couple times, and by a couple I mean like 10-12.

Forget the noob thing...it's just gay...means nothing. heck some people who are Smash Lords absolutely blow at smash.
Anyhow, to get the video you will need to download DC++. For more info on DC++ and the like look for the topic in Melee Discussion on it. Follow its instructions.
GL with Fox.(that repeated reflector on the ground thing is nuts...)
Reminds me of skipping in FFIX...once you have the beat just stick with it...no big. Good work doing it though, I'm not trying to belittle you :)

I think that making a full training video would be awesome and eagerly await it.
I don't think that people seeing this will help them "cheat" or something by learning it too soon, becuase they will be able to do these techniques, but will actually have to learn to use them competetivley to realize the move's full potential in tourneys and such.

Are we able to download more than one video at a time in the Hub? And is there a way we could just search the video rather than just look at other people's lists?

Suicide Fox: what's up, nice video man, I really enjoyed it. I have a question. I just finished my Link trix video, it's about 5 minutes long or so. I did all the effects and rendered it in Adobe After Effects. The problem is, even when I set the quality at it's lowest, it comes out to nearly 200mb. The highest quality comes out at a freakin' whopping 828mb, and even though it looks effin' sick in high quality, I seriously doubt anyone would download it since I'm prolly gonna put it on the hub. So I was just wondering how your vid turned out to be 56mb and the quality still stay pretty good, or what software you used? Or if anyone can maybe can help me out it will be greatly appershated........
Yah i like the SHDB, and I love doing the relfector thing not new but kool to do :p

I used Studio 8 and Dazzle to capture and edit everything. I dunno how you could shrink the 200 mb tho =/. Maybe if you try another video format you can.
The GERM: I can help you out shrinking the video if you need. Catch me on AIM sometime, my sn is OroKenshinor0, I can work you through it.

Hm, late reply (almost a month). Anyway, I downloaded the video and have a few questions about some of those tricks.
First, shine grabbing and shine smashing, is that just jump cancelling your shine with a wavedash on the same place and then grab/smash? I've been able to do this standing dash (or whatever it is. =/) while trying to waveshine (it's hard for me. ;_; ). Any explanation would be nice. ^_^
I don't really care about the ledge wavedash (yet) and the infinite Firefox thingy (hm, I don't see the use of that, but that may just be me).
Furthermore, I can't seem to get the timing on the double short hop laser right. I can do it in 1/4, 1/2 and 2/3 in training mode, but that's it. How hard and fast must you press the B button in order for it to work?
Thanks in advance.

I'm quite new at using fox because I switched from falco awhile ago. I just wanted to know how to infinite firefox, you can use all those crazy smashboard terms. Thanks.
As you see in the video, Fox first dashes to the opponent, then shine grabs/smashes. You see, when you shine while Fox is running, he slides a bit during the shine. During the sliding motion, you jump cancel to grab/usmash. So what suicide_fox did was simply dash to the opponent, shine, JC to grab or upsmash. To JC grab out of a shine, press X/Y and Z at the same time. To JC usmash out of a shine, simply usmash as you normally would with the control stick. Alternatively use the C-stick... when in multiplayer mode.

Ah, yes. Thanks. ^_^
I have tried it a few times and it worked. But after a while I seemed to do Illusion instead of the shine. Or I shine and jump cancel and then forget to grab. Mreh, practice makes perfect I guess. :P
And Usmash out of the shine, I find it hard to do with the joystick so Í'll just stick to the C-stick. =]
