Falco's(Fox's) Backwards Laser

This is like the second sexiest thing you can do with Falco. The ownage of Backwards laser. Well to do it you dash to one direction, short hop, then you lightly tilt the control stick to the opposite direction, press B and fast fall.

I am still mastering this since I see it as very useful tactic since is alot quicker then Wavedashing Backwards to a SHL. Also it has even GREATER distance then a Wavedashed SHL if done correctly.

I want to know if any of you people use it? Ive seen some Isai vids and he mastered it, I want to do it like him! lmao the only thing I need is to get more distance from it.

I find it quite useful, and I use it whem im retreating or getting more space for SHL. After you get the hang of it, it becomes 2nd nature

I use it often, as it's much quicker than just turning around, and starting SHL'ing again.

I recently saw Smashfighter do this in a video and it looked pretty cool, been practicing lately and I find it much easier to dash, shorthop, mash the control stick backwards and let go, B, fastfall

you have to have fast fingers to do it this way but is much safer in terms of doing the phantasm.

This is definantly a good move for several reasons. THe backward SHL can be used to cover your retreat if you are running away form a faster character eg: Falcon or sheik. Its always good to throw in a few SHL's as you are regrouping for another attack. Another good use for this is to play mindgames. SHL backward then forward then backward so you dont actually change position, this racks up some percentage and may set you up for a good combo as well. The last good use for it is to stop or dodge an aerial attack. Example: Falcon is running in to do some form of aerial attack, simply SHL backwards, this has 2 uses. 1) If the Laser hits his attack will be stopped and you can counter attack. 2) If the laser misses, you would still have moved back far enough for the aerial attack to miss and you can counter attack still.

SHL is like a better version of Wavedash.

Ok reverse laser it is, sounds better. I knew people can do it but I haerd alot of people don't find it useful :eek:

Using my 1337 Joy stick skills, I found a very easy way to do it backwards(reverse) whatever you want to call it.

Dash in the direction you want, say right, then spin the control stick counter clockwise to the upper left.

This will make you jump, and if you press B, you will shoot to the left(since you hit upper left on the joy stick).

I can do it every time using that meathod...

rockcrock, your elite joystick skills are great... but its easier to just run right or left, jump tap the opposite direction, then press b when your joystick is centered again... and fastfall... if needed

I thought the official name for this technique was SHL Retreat and the forward motion was called SHL Advance. It sounds better than Reverse SHL and Foward SHL, a lot more sophisticated. But thats just my opinion.

There is really no official name... it's just SHL. And if you need to specify, SHL in place, dash jump into SHL, or dash jump backwards into SHL. Meh. Whatever works, I guess. Most people will probably understand you if you say reverse SHL.

Well he's weird cause I think it's really cool. Remember you can reverse any neutral b not just these.

I still find this extremely tough to master. When I push left, Falco doesn't turn around. Maybe it's just me but I hope it's me. At the same time, I hope it isn't me cuz I don't want to put in anymore effort, all this information I've learned since I discovered DC++ and Smash World Forum has got my brain tired or maybe it's because I did a bunch of stuff today and it's 11:42 PM. Lol, it doesn't sound tiring but it is.

When you push left as you short-hop, tap "right" with the joystick, then let go and tap B. Make sure that you are moving leftward first. It's really not that bad.

Nevermind, I got it down. It's good when you want to whittle up your opponent's damage or just annoy them. I think one of Falco's greatest enemies is Mario. He has a reflector and projectile too. Evil he is... EVIL I tell you! If you have good timing, you can short hop over his fireballs but I only do that by luck... *sigh*

Don't try to laser him then, My CHKN Falco has a pretty **** good hand to hand combat. Falco is not just a hit and run character. he can be offensive as well.

Anways with Fox I am trying to do the Reverse double SHL, is hard though, Haven't pulled it off yet, but I did in 1/4 speed mode. meh.

^I actually agree with that

I would be much more frustrated going a whole 30 seconds not landing a single hit while the other person has been toying with me than being hit in a combo that is impressive.

In the end, both do a lot of damage, but mind games has taken a bigger hit in the "slowly building damage up" scenario.
