Falco has a bad recovery that should be exploited. He's not particularly difficult to shine spike, but his side-B recovery (phantasm) spikes, so you don't want to miss the shine. If you get the spike, the quick one stock advantage should be helpful.

Upthrow to upsmash is good. Careful with the short hops, since Falco beats you out in the SH game. If he SHB's you a lot just either run away best you can or jump over the lasers. Use down and forward smash to edgeguard. Always try to KO him off the side, so wher he is at a hig enough % upthrow, jump, back air to knock him off the stage. If he gets you off, your an easy target to spike so try to sweet spot the recovery or go where you know he won't be expecting.

I have a few problems fighting Falco as well. Especially when he edge guards using a SH spike. How do I avoid this?

There really is no other way to avoid it, other than sweet spot the ledge perfectly, or hope the Falco somehow mistimes and you hit him with the Firefox or Illusion. But any "good" Falco player will never mistime spiking a Fox.

uptilt and back kick. And if you can, drill to grab

When Recovering, after probably using firefox, how do you plan to drill or any sort of attack?

You don't...you can't use any moves while firefoxing. That's why you want to sweet spot the ledge, so you don't get killed.

Firefox doesn't have any lag so you shouldn't worry about your recovery time : P

Recovery time is not the problem. When using firefox you are completely unable to use any attack during the middle of it. So, while your shooting towards the ledge, falco is waiting for you with a SH down A.

That's why you need to sweet-spot the ledge. If you sweet-spot it you won't spend any time in the air while not on fire. Falco can't spike you while you're firefoxing... Another (easier) way to sweet-spot the edge is to use your forward B to shoot strait too it.

A good trick with Fox's FireFox is while it's in the startup phase slam a direction and you will sort of float that way before shooting off (just remember to pres the direction you want to travel in afterwards). It's good if you start it while close to the edge but not close enough to grab it, sometimes you will float towards it and grab it before you fire off.

Does anyone know of any airiel attacks that can out-prioritize Falco spike? I'm thinking that the shine might, but I'm not sure.

honestly, i think you have to depend on the not get hit move... sometimes uair can beat it, but you have to have really really awesome timing and spacing to hit him with your legs without letting him fastfall through them into your body. maybe the bair if you're approaching correctly, too, but that's not going to be a common setup.

fox's shine beats the spike, air or land. You won't get hit

On Falco you should use chain grab with chain combo, DI alot, and quick kills with the shine spike.
