I've done it before by accident, but is there some sort of specific timing to get it to work all the time? Could come in very handy, much better than trying to spike with his ada.

You have to hit with the very tip of the sword. Although its Roy's only non-meteor cancellable spike, the angle at which it sends the enemy isn't very good and it's hard to pull off in a real match.

That's it, but it's near impossible to do. And even when it's done it's easy to escape out. So don't try to use it.

i think there's one reliably useful situation for this, but you're not going to be able to do it consistently against serious players.

that is, if a character is hanging on the ledge, and hits the jump button to jump up off the edge, their angle generally positions them just right.

any good player will do a ledge hop so this is useless against them.
