I've been playing around with Falco the past couple of days, and of course as most of you will know spiking is a huge part of his game.

The problem is, it's hard to spike someone low down because this almost always leads to a suicide.

I was playing a computer earlier, and I'm pretty sure I once footstool jumped off of him while he was floating back to the stage (I think it was Marth) and immediately did a dair. He was spiked and died, and I got a ton of height off of the footstool jump and recovered even though I did it pretty low down.

I'm not sure how effective this could be on a human player, but if I saw this correctly and it could be replicated then it could have potential.

I'm pretty new to Falco, but if this is a viable technique it should help a lot since you could go really far from the stage, footstool jump into a dair, then use your crazy horizontal recovery to get back.

Of course, the biggest problem is that the footstool jump doesn't have much range and most players probably won't let you jump right over to them as they're trying to recover.

Thoughts?

Sorry if this has been known for months or something, I didn't see anything on it.

Actually D-air to Footstool jump is better and easier. Try this at the edge:
At low percentage, maybe 20-30...
D-throw> SH D-air(sweetspotted and fast falled)> Footstool jump
They will be so low that only characters with multiple jumps have the chance to get back. I'ts also safe for Falco because he will recover even if you miss the Footstool jump.
I haven't tried it out consistenly against humans but I think it works.

I Koed a Dedede early on in a random wi-fi match footstool jumping on him when he was by the edge, then I SHed and used dair on him, which Koed him.

nice i was hoping there would be some intresting new spiking methods with falco, being as they changed his Down-B and reduced the power deliverd by the D-air...........Foward-B still the same..........kinda

I made a topic about this on the tactical discussion boards. Are you saying that Falco's Dair can hit after the jump of a footstool? Because if you can confirm it working on a standing opponent as well, then that really will help the research!

See, I thought that Falco's Dair didn't have enough range to be able to hit after an fsj. At the moment, I thought only characters with really fast and rangy Dairs and moves that change vertical momentum could do it. (such as Fox's reflector, or Toon Link's Dair.)

If Falco can do this on a standing opponent, then wow, you have no idea how cool that will be for ground combos.

i just tried this on a wario standing still in training mode, you can short hop onto his head, footstool jump, fast fall and then nail him with a dair, but then thats the end of what you can do

You definitely can't dair directly out of a footstool jump. Well, you can, but you'll be moving upward as you dair. Why post this thread without a little testing? This tech doesn't work.

Try it in slow motion. Don't do a full footstool jump, just a short one. Press Dair AS SOON as you leave the opponent's head. It's very possible that Falco can still tip them with the end of his Dair as he's going up, providing it starts fast enough and has enough range.

Otherwise, I think the reason this happened to OP is because the opponent probably meteor canceled the fsj and then jumped or up B'd into Falco's Dair.

But that makes fsj->dair more dangerous, they either meteor-cancel late in order to avoid the dair(characters with bad recoveries risk dying) or they cancel it right away and get dair'ed.

alright sorry guys, guess I was seeing things :/

sorry to get your hopes up >_>

just trying to help out falco's game!

this could be a pretty useful trick if it works on a human, I should test it out sometime

But that makes fsj->dair more dangerous, they either meteor-cancel late in order to avoid the dair(characters with bad recoveries risk dying) or they cancel it right away and get dair'ed.

This could have some potential, dair is scary and could make the footstool jump a key part of falco's game (At least his edgeguarding game)

not sure if it works though, let someone else test since I'm not good at this kind of thing
