Shiek's dair is mind draining, can you cancel it?

You can actually short hop dair off the edge and still make it back with a jump and up B, but you can get edgehogged pretty easily.

I'm pretty sure the initial hitbox is a spike or meteor, so it might be benificial if you hit with this part of the attack, otherwise, it still seems useless.
