Hey, I'm entering. Anyone else who is entering - state your name and why you will win. Wish us luck (like we need it) That is all.

I was planning on using Peach as well.
For multiple reasons, one being that I am good with her of course.
Another reason is, I expect many people to be like "OMG NEW CHARICKTURZ OHH OOHH"
And then when they are trying to get used to Pit or Pokemon Trainer or whoever, I will be whooping their *****.

You're going to be in the same place if you've never played Brawl before, even if you're playing with Peach. She has completely different kill moves, and has a generally completely different style of play altogether.
I expect that the final brackets of this tournament will be filled with people who've had time to learn the ins-and-outs of this game via the Japanese version.
I'm attending for the sole reason of the midnight release. I'll probably use Zelda though.

Not really. You can still play as Peach, and you'll probably be better off than most who are learning completely different characters. But you're not going to be even close to being unstoppable with her. Or maybe you will. Depends upon the region, I guess.

I just read the tournament rules - only 1 min. matches for round 1. Yikes. No slip ups or I'll die in sudden death...

I might be wrong, but I don't think that there's Sudden Death. I think you just redo the match.

If you redo the match, you'll be redoing it a while. It's pretty hard to kill people within one minute in brawl from the vids I've seen.

I just got back from my local gamestop tourny - which I won with peach.
It does go to sudden death quite often. However, 1 turnip knocks opponents off the map and 2 is a kill. I won SD easily with this.
I didn't get into the "gameplay" of peach only because my time spent so far was six one-minute matches. The forward push (running+A) that Peach does now hits twice. Quite useful as the second hit knocks the enemy in the air slighly forcing them to land. This gave me a split-second of recovery to pull a turnip or smash attack.
Downsmash is key. Its not dead - it still rocks. Seems like a faster startup too. Granted the damage is less, the majority of good players never held-down while getting Peach-downsmashed anyway. It seems to deal the same amount of damage as Melee (enemy not holding down) - however a little bit faster.
I never got a chance to grab as I wasn't used to the D-pad.
I never picked up a single item. No use. Never did final smash. I believe this local tourny is possible to win without the use of cheaper items if you were a good melee'er.
I fought Marios and Ikes for the most part. They dominated the brackets in numbers. All the pikachus and foxs killed themselves. Zelda was all over the board. Peach however was quite... pleasent. I didn't do anything different than Melee - easy transistion.
The golf club is LONG. We played on a battlefield type map. Using the golf club, I could hit players standing above me on the right and left levels. Up smash hit from here as well.
Turnips take longer to pull. Could be because I was playing with the wiimote and chuck. However the turnips seemed to knock enemies back further and deal more damage.
Thats all for know. Good luck to those Peachers out there. Please note that ALL of this came from 6 minutes of gameplay with brawl. During of which, I wasn't reading stats if you can understand.
I'm from central wisconsin and won the Plover game. I'll be in Appleton next week. See ya there.

Awsome! I won mine with Peach too! After winning, the manager of my gamestop played me in a 4-stock match... which I also won. I figured out a lot of new stuff... Did you know that Pikachu's thunder goes through the stage? At least at Hyrule Temple...
I'm headed to Crestwood.
lol I win with Peach in Ashland Ky. It was a terrible tourney, I am not going back this Fri for District beings I will be @ Final Round *****es.
