Although Mario is very balanced he lacks in certain areas at times, what are his weak points and how can you compensate for them?

Mario's biggest weaknesses used to be power and range. Now he's got more power in Brawl, and his attacks have greater range, but his biggest weakness is still range.
Let's face it, even though he can stretch his limbs and make his fists and feet as big as his chest, he's still a short, portly man, and he can only reach so far.

weakness imo:
no real downward angled moves from air.
his dmg on his tilts could be higher.
and yeah, his range is kinda meh.

He might not have so much in the way of weaknesses, just less strengths.

I agree, but my thread wasn't about Mario's weakness, just his weak points as in the areas he lacks in; strengths that other characters may excel at that he doesn't.
*I think you were on track with your comment but it feels there's a different message that you wanted to express that was lacking in what you wrote; you probally were trying to emphasize Mario's balance, and I totally agree with that but he does have more difficultly in some areas than in others*
*I don't mean any disrespect at all, your post was good (Heck, I'm lucky to even get a post), I just want to keep this thread on track*
*Keep up the good work Mario-analyzers!*

downward angled moves, as in, he has no moves that have good hitboxes below him. you should never try to out prioritize someone from above with mario lol.
it dose bother me they shortend the range on his dsmash, but it is a little bit quicker.
but honestly, i think his fireballs animation recovers faster, i supose to compensate for his range somewhat?

can fireballs be used as a reliable approach similar to the original SSB?

If I had to label Mario's weaknesses, I would just say that he is so average and in the middle that he does not excel in any area, as in there will always be a character that will hit harder or will move faster, and so forth. Nevertheless, I do not think this is that much of a bad thing.

How is Mario's recovery? I'm not all that great with Mario as of yet but it seems like it is a bit lacking compared to most other characters so far. His Up-B doesn't seem to cover a whole lot of horizontal distance and the cape seems to kill your momentum more than it did in Melee. Any tips or things I'm overlooking?

pretty sure the cape still helps and it helped a lot more in melee. His up b is lacking than most other characters but its so easy to get bacck to the stage it doesnt even matter you dont even need the up b half the time. plus edge hogging isnt too big of a problem anymore. pretty sure the up b has pretty good priority too.

Eggz, I respect you as a better, but why are you leaving such unproductive comments? I'll admit these boards could be a bit better, but these boards are still a great source of ideas, opinions, and information.
