View Full Version : Rm88's Peach Impressions ^^
I got Brawl yesterday, and I'm absolutely loving it. "Favorite game ever" candidate. I've been playing mostly with Peach (duh), so here are my personal impressions:
- Peach is nerfed.
- That doesn't mean she's unplayable, I won most of the matches I played ^^
- Pit and Ike are my most difficult match-ups.
- Dsmash is not useless. It can rack up damage quite nicely.
- Second jump is not short. It's nonexistent >_<
- Thankfully, ^B gets way more height.
- Fair, Bair, Nair, Fsmash and Usmash are my main KO moves.
- Utilt is awesome ^^
- Dash Attack can still be spammed against some characters (hint: NOT Pit).
- Her Final Smash is great, possibly one of the best.
- Too bad Pit can completely avoid it -_-
- Peach Bomber is a nice surprise attack, but you're not going to use it frequently.
- The same can be said about Toad.
Even if my other main (Kirby) got buffed, Peach is still my primary main ^^ She is fun, I'm not quitting her anytime soon. I still need a lot of practice, but I maganed to best my friends, and they were playing as Marth/Fox/Metaknight/Ike... and Pit ~_~ I'm sure Pit is Peach's worst counter!
Peach rules ^^
2nd jump exists. Just full jump, then immediately 2nd jump and hold jump to float once she's stopped gaining height. She gains a miniscule amount of height! Yay!
A full dsmash does 21% of damage. It will never hit for the full damage unless you and your opponent are placed in the "right" positions, they do not DI at all and have little to mid amounts of percentages. Also, it's not really that easy to combo from if it hits for all of its hits and one dsmash isn't that easy to combo into other if they DI or just 2nd jump (depending on who they are).
I don't see Peach Bomber being that big of a surprise attack. It's faster but is it really so fast you can surprise good people with it?
Aren't you exagerrating the "good for racking up damage"-part here?
Her Final Smash is so-so. It does 49% of damage if they're close, 10% if they're at mid distances, it'll put people who are on the ground to sleep. Anyone with multi jumps or who are just really floaty can jump, 2nd jump and Up B to avoid it... or they could grab the ledge. However, it's not that easy to avoid.
However, it just puts them to sleep. It's good... but not "great". Unless they have enough %s for you to KO them with an Fsmash, I guess. But it's nowhere near Top Tier (Top Tier FS:es kill at pretty much any %s... and they can be comboed into easily... that and Chaos Sonic).
Dash attack has less priority, BTW. Just to mention that.
Did you notice that Peach has the same lag when landing after Up B even with the parasoll closed as when it's open? I think that's BS as they made her fall much slower now with the parasoll closed.
Why do you think Ike is harder than Marth? Ike's stronger, sure. But he's also much slower... it's like Marth and Bowser in Melee... only Melee Bowser was actually faster than Ike. If you play carefully, Ike won't be as hard as Marth or any of the fast and strong characters.

Ike is harder than Marth from my point of few. Playing both Ike and Marth alot. He may be slow but its hard to get inside. Its like Fighting ganon in melee. He has good shield pressure. Reguardless or speed.and its hard to attack him in the air while landing. Inless your timing is good, just land and dont try to hit him, cause that sword can K.O at low damage. Ikes game is for him to let you throw the first punch, and he takes if from there. You rush, your done.
Marth is not that hard, and he is kinda simple. His range is short anyway. I use his speed against him. let him come at me with fairs over and over, then at the right moment, nail him.
Ike is much slower than Ganondorf ever was (on startup). His moveset is very limited if he wants to stay safe. His shieldpressure is pretty weak if he wants to stay safe as well.
Just learn his moves and what they look like. Most of them can be spotdodged/airdodged/rolled/Toaded/shiledhop naired on reaction because their startup is just too darn slow.
Again, he has few moves he can use (and fewer for shieldpressure) unless he wants to be unsafe.

Marth is much more difficult than Ike...not as dangerous a matchup as in melee, but still... his speed and tipper smashes combined leave no room for mistakes - but a good Ike can still be dangerous.

It's my view on how I play and my style is. I can handle Marth in this game, Ike I got nothing for him yet. I have not learned this fight. Marth is no problem to me. Give me that b!tch anyday of the weak and I'll beat his azz. Ike its gonna take some time.
Yeah, Ike is more difficult for me too, he can KO my Peach with just a few hits. But my main problem is Pit. I forgot to mention... I love Bridge of Eldin, I'd not be surprised if it happens to be Peach's best stage ^^

Yeah, that's exactly my theory. He's just a new matchup you're not used to yet because he is, after all, a new character.
It's like how certain people can be really good against the Top Tiers as Peach yet suck against Zelda because they just don't know how to play against her (I used to suck against Zelda). Zelda's not a harder matchup than Fox. But some people have a harder time fighting her, regardless.
