Meteor Smash = Cutting Smash?

Luigi's Meteor Smash doesn't smash them down, but he slashes his hand in front of him like a sword making it some sort of sideways Smash. This is very good for combos as it allows you to do a Down-B and get straight to where they are about to land. It's Meteor Smash, Down-B, Repeat.

His meteor smash is his d-air. From your description, you're talking about his f-air.

It is not an instant KO, as a matter of fact, the move got a nerf from Melee. It's still good, but not as good as it was.

Arial moves don't have any official names, just made up names created by the fans. No meteors, do not go sideways, his chop is just a strong arial like the "Knee."

are you talking about the fair? Remember, the fair is the kung-fu like chop, and the dair is the spinning kick. because that deffinitly dosent meteor smash. his meteor smashes are the dair and d-taunt.

Okay, my analysis of this situation for everyone who's confused: He doesn't actually know what a meteor smash is, so when he saw the Dojo update from a week or two ago (http://www.smashbros.com/en_us/howto/basic/basic10.html) talking mostly about Mario's fair, he assumed that that specific move was called "Meteor Smash". So when he's talking about Luigi's version of the "meteor smash", he just means "the move he has instead of Mario's fair", without any implication that it actually spikes.

Also, there's probably like a hundred reasons why that combo wouldn't work in a real-life situation.

(For the benefit of the OP: The term "meteor smash" refers to any attack that sends your opponent straight down. Mario's forward aerial is only one example of a meteor smash; that isn't its individual name. Ganondorf and Captain Falcon's downward aerials are both textbook examples of meteor smashes.)
