Ever since that topic on the general boards about Footstool jumping, I've been wondering about this possible combo.

Can Toon Link footstool jump off a grounded opponent and then immediately follow up with Dair before they can recover from the slight stun?

Since footstool jumps can be done on the way up from the start of a jump if you're close enough to the opponent, Toon Link may be able to use this as a way to get a free Dair off a shielding opponent.

Okay, I tried it and it IS possible, but I only tried in training mode yet. Dunno if it works if your opponent is defending or whatever. From time to time its even possible to hit 3 times with Dair this way.
Well, I'm going to play with some friends tonight, going to try it out with them.

Yeah, well the important thing is whether or not you can hit before they have a chance to block.

No, the stun from the footstool is not big enough for you to land a Dair, since they can just shield/walk/dash/jump away from you. The thing is, footstool jumping makes it so that you jump much higher than your regular jump, thus giving your opponent ample time to get away, espeically since the Dair goes straight down. In fact, a regular jumped Dair would have more chance of hitting.

Bah. Oh well. But I heard that you can do a short fsj in the same manner you do a shorthop.

I don't see why the height of the jump should matter, though, since I was asking whether you can use Dair as soon as you leave the opponent (on the way up).

enlighten me on this "toadstool jumping".

It's just landing on somebody's head and then jumping off, stunning the oponent for a few frames of animation. Not that much though. It can be done while the opponent is in the air or on the ground.

Whoa whoah...I hope you mean it...so are you sure the opponent can't shield before you use Dair?

I did do this today, however it was completely by accident. I will double check if it is actually possible soon.

Does it work if you do footstool jump on an airborne opponent? And doesn´t the footstool jump lose height if you use it lot, so could this be used to make the combo work better, or does the stun also get weaker?

Look around 41-50.

That's...um...sick...

With this you could practically garentee a Dair with you land a footstool on a midair opponent. Someone has to test on the ground on a shielding and nonshielding opponent still though.

Haha! Sucess!

I think this trick should be called "End Game Combo" because it kind of looks like the final attack that Link performs on Ganon at the end of Wind Waker. You know the one. He even jumps off the opponent. XD

While Footstool jumping you can control the height. It's nothing to do with weakening or abusing, it's simple actually. While performing the footstool jump, the longer you hold the the Jump button, the higher you jump & harder you "Spike" them.

This technique is interesting, Now, I don't recall Dair spiking unless it was flaming, but this video he obviously wasn't flaming. Is this a new property? FTJ, Dair spike is pretty intimidating.

The flaming Dair is only for Young Link in SSBM. Toon Link can spike the same way, but it doesn't use fire.

Toon links dair always spikes for like the first second it is out or so, then it hits em up.

Yeah, that sucks.

Lol wut?

It doesn't suck at all. It pretty much lets you choose whether you want to spike or multi-hit the opponent when you land with this attack.
