Jesus, why didn't I see this before?
I only have enough time to watch the last one, and I've actually got a couple of questions.
1. Is Marth still G&W's counter? I know Marth has less range on some of his sword moves now, so I wasn't sure. Also, does G&W's manhole out-range Marth's new (nerfed) forward smash?
2. Has G&W's general speed improved? Or has he stayed the same, with Brawl's new slower place slowing everyone else down?
3. I know his shield no longer leaves his hands poking out (seriously, he had the worst shield in Melee, it was ridiculous!), but have his rolls/dodges improved at all? They look just as slow and laggy to me as they did in Melee... :(
4. Is G&W's upthrow the new downthrow? His downthrow no longer bounces people up a little (to lead into a Flagman combo...) but will his upthrow send players into the flag's range like his Melee downthrow did?
5. Just where the heck is G&W's KO noise? I can hear him screeching bloody murder when he gets Star KO'd, but there's no "OMG IM DED BLARGH" beeping from him when he pitfalls... what happened?
As for comments... I really like the way you spammed Spitball Sparky to disorient Marth. I wonder how G&W's blowjob will do in competitive play? :chuckle:
I'll be sure to bookmark the rest of your vids, thank you for uploading them!
Tagsies! Will watch later :)

yes marth still counters GW, but not as badly
id say he moves the same as melle, i feel like im playing melle. but i can do stuff out of Upb now LOL
yeah his sheild is like the best in the game and his rolls and dodges seem the same maybe a lil faster but air dodges work differently in general now.
Dthrow puts people on ground, U throw sends them very high. u can hit people with UpB out of back or forward throw if they DI wrong
dono what happened to the noises but rheyre cute still i guess lol
and not sure how GW will do in competitive play, but i know ill be able to put up a fight with him at the very least, just like i did in melle
lol when I play G&W in Melee now I keep trying to do a dair after I up B
It's already become a habit

Is it true that G&W can use Up B even after he already uses it? I heard this somewhere, but I want some confirmation from a reliable source.

This is not true. He can use any other move though.

I've been watching your videos and you seem really good. I love the pillaring technique... Dair to Up B... You need to hammer WAY less, and chair and pillar more. I really want to see some more videos though. I would love to get a video of you just pillaring in training mode too! Keep up the work!
I think it's actually better to save the chair until you want to kill...it's a good kill move

It has a ton of priority though, so you can push people back with it. The hammer has way too many variables to be effective. More tilts, less hammer. And please get more videos up. I would love to see one just with his advanced stuff, pillaring, tech chasing, etc.

wow, youre a really good game and watch! I agree with the hypnotist- i like that pillaring you did. I don't think it'd work the same way as falcos pillaring... but as a way of movement, it's superb. I can't wait to play G&W in two weeks :D
oh, i also like your control with the up air. your match with Marth was a good example.
and that 3rd match with Jiggly? totally awesome
-wes-
Nice Mr. Game and Watch, keep up the good work man!
If you use the chair too often you can't use it as a kill move because of the stale moves thing...I think the stale moves effect is too powerful but it stops spam I guess -.-

This.
Also, I'm pretty sure the hammer is way more useful now because of this exactly. If it only goes stale for the same number, then you can damage with this move while potentially getting a 1 hit KO and not staling your other moves.

Only problem being the move doens't have enough knockback generally and can deal damage to you. But please, because I like your play style, get up some more videos.

We have to try new things otherwise we will never get better.

so far these vids are pretty good
you make better use of the up b than i do, i'll have to try throwing it into my game more. Im used to the move being more punishable when used on the ground but now that you can attack out of it, up b should be used more to maneuver the stage and to throw your opponent off.
your spacing could use some work, just like everyone else. Im not saying my spacing is amazing or anything (i know it could use work) but in a new game where spacing rules most of the technical game, your going to want to invest more time in being able to avoid sheild grabs and use the full potential of your range.
what to tech chase out of the dthrow is a personal choice, but i feel as though hitting with the fsmash out of their roll is pretty hard to do. The main reason its hard is because you have to be there before they are. Most characters can get their sheilds up only a few frames of vulnerability which is why i usually just go for another grab. Sometimes you can dthrow to an immediate dsmash if they don't roll immediately as well. The more i play around with gw's grab game, the more i feel like tech chasing with just grabs is the best option.
you should use your dsmash more (i just read one of your youtube comments that you know you need to so this is probably a bit redundant). At first its difficult to add into your gameplay because gw players from melee are trained to not use it but it kills so well that you just can't ignore it now. I like to cancel my dashes with a quick sheild and then dsmash out of that, which ends up working pretty fast.
im not so sure how i feel about your use of the up air. yea you can keep them suspended in the air for as long as you want to, but i rarely see you get an really good set ups that are worth it. Maybe in the future some mindgames for the up air will be developed but right now i don't see a lot of reason to use it so much.
your hammer usage seems to be a bit overdone, but i do see your point from your arguement as far as the diminishing knockback factor. I guess we'll have to see more about how this really affects moves and how long it takes to recover and what makes it recover. If it requires a certain number of different moves to be used and for them to connect, then i def see where your coming from.
overall, pretty good gw there. These comments probably sound pretty harsh, but im really just commenting on fundemental things that im sure everyone could use improvements on (including myself). I really enjoy your use of the upb to fair/dair, it payed off well and you were able to rack up a lot of dmg with it while rarely being punished.

The Hylian Pillar is dope, seriously. I want some more videos of that.
nice job Hylian...im proud of u aha but seriously nice GaW nice "pillarin" aha
Wow, those were some epic games. I love that G&W is actually a contender now, as playing as him just felt good to me in Melee, more so than any other character, but he just didn't pack enough punch or recover fast enough for me to win any games. I hope I can actually start to practice and use him in Brawl, he'll defenitely be one of my secondaries.

Stale moves I don't think matters as much for awesome moves like G&W's B-air, which owns in ways that don't directly kill. =P
Which is why I spam it =P

I have been feeling the same way myself, the more and more i play it just seems like going for another grab is the safest option.

i really wouldn't put it past noj to do that...
in any case, the matches feel like more of the same, with your game tightened up a bit in general, def improving. I would say you still need to downsmash more, i watch most of the matches and think i only saw you kill with it once, although at points i can see you remember to use it and then start trying to set it up, which is good. I would say that i use it to kill like 50 percent of the time, so i would probably use it a bit more if i were you.
nice buckets and random nines ha ha

d.smash doesnt get most of my kills but it gets some and when i use it and it doesnt kill it leads to edge guard kill the toehr times

well its the spacing of it that gets you the kills, on most stages it will kill at around 80 percent uncharged at the tip, if you get the inside then ya you have to follow it up.
