In some of those videos (which are the only decent ZSS vids I can find), Blitz seems to try to DD but ends up running in one direction for a second and then slowly turning around.
Is this just intentional on his part or can she really not pull it off?
i guess not from watching the video

She can. You just have to do it really fast.

So fast it makes you wonder if it's worth it. If you dash-dance at a reasonably fast pace for Melee, you just foxtrot in one direction. Awkward at first.
Here's another thing, and I only bring it up with respect to ZSS because I played her the most: it seems as if you can't double-jump immediately in Brawl. That is, you have to wait until a certain time into your first jump, perhaps reaching the top, until the second will activate. Again, very awkward initially and another reason the game seems slow. I know this isn't a big deal, but did others experience this?

I don't remember getting that feeling. I don't think I ever tried double jumping though, since Zamus' first jump is so enormous.

Interesting. It was much more noticeable to me on the short hop.
Thinking more about it, I wonder if this is mechanic is more extra help for noobs. That is, to keep them from double-tapping jump and then getting smashed off the stage, losing their second jump.
