Link's Shield ..?

Well I was just Thinking.."Link has a shield so..why doesnt he use it?"
i mean there isnt a move like shield bashing or defense. is there?

seriously, Link doesnt use his shield in brawl for idk what reason :dizzy:

I am not sure if there is a move that actually uses his shield. Its been a while since I played Melee and myabe im forgetting it. But i havent seen him use it in any gameplay vids.

So Link's shield is just for show..or does he use it?

In Melee (and also Brawl, I think), as long as you're standing perfectly still or crouching, the Hylian Shield will protect you from all projectiles, just like in the old Zelda games. Even a maxed out Charge Beam will just fizzle uselessly and push you back a couple of feet.

Well, that will work too, but your Hylian shield is never at risk to breaking, unlike the regular shield.

if you stand still the shield will take 3 hits but then link spins his sword around and moves his shield then he can get hit. and crouching does not work at all in brawl

No crouching? Hm... that'd probably be to balance the fact that if Link is crouching he can't be hurt at range and takes very little knockback at close range. Any other ideas?

so i found that if you take lazers or something and you crouch it resets how many hits you can take with the shild and some times crouching does work

If you stand still, Link's shield blocks ANYTHING and EVERYTHING. (projectiles)
Samus' Charge Beam and Mewtwo's Shadow Ball push Link back, that's all.

So to clear this mess up:

Standing still: Sometimes works
Crouch Shielding: Protects you from everything?

I think it's that some projectiles don't actually hit the shield, that's why you get hit. By crouching, the shield covers most of Link's front, offering better protection from projectiles. Like the space animal's lasers, they hit kinda low, so the shield won't get that.

Wouldn't it be weird if Toon Link got the better shield this time around?

From my experience the "standing still" use of the shield has saved me more times then I can remeber and has pissed my friends off just as many times! XD
