Possible new staple combo

Ok so I wouldn't exactly say this combo is new, but its definitely way more usuable since shine canceling is either difficult or not possible in brawl.

So in melee this was a common and really good combo that you can' really do in brawl: shffl dair + shine + go from there (wavedash to grab, waveshine, wavedash to upsmash, etc.)

Since we can't do that in brawl I noticed a really useful combo in brawl both for accumulating damage and possibly comboing in general even though it is more limited. Its basically like this: shffl dair + u-tilt + aerial (or u-tilt again if possible then + aerial).

I've seen multiple fox videos where foxes are using this, but I think the videos that show its potential the most are sniper's videos.

Ok this one uses final smashes, but features the combo and another really cool thing. Look at the kill at 1:30ish. Fox misses the shine, but can get to the edge before sheik can recover and the sheik tries to sweetspot the edge, killing her. U think this is possibly usuable? (fake shinespiking?)

No final smash in this one. Again good use of the combo and another cool thing. The kill at 0:40ish fox jumps off stage and dairs and is able to recover. Just shows aerials are a lot more abusable off stage because of how much faster u can recover after doing one (in comparison to brawl).

Fox looks really good too, I think I'm going to enjoy learning this iteration.

I hear that the firefox's burn frames start sooner in Brawl.

What about sheild grab? Most aerials in this game will suffer from that. If this combo hits, it doesn't look escapable.

Well, from my experience in Brawl, Fox can Drill -> Reflector -> Dash -> Any Smash/Any Tilt very effectively. It isn't really a Combo, since you need a little of Mind Games because sometimes the opponent will react before you reach him, but it is effective none the less.

I like to drill > grab > dthrow > fair. It works well most of the time. It also works for nailing uairs.

I KOd a n00b using shine across FD. Down B > short dash > down B... and then shinespiked him.

Also, the shine tumbles down people at high percentages (100% or so) which can be followed with a nice usmash.

Shield grabs are pretty easy to get off in this game due to the slower speed.

You have to be very careful to make sure all your moves are safe, or you will get punished. The solutions include jumping over them for the down air so they're facing the wrong way for the grab, or trying to predict where they're going while moving and intercepting them.

About the combo itself, I haven't been able to play a lot yet, but I have gotten in a few good matches, and I noticed how sweet u-tilt was. It combos into itself multiple times at low %, and then into aerials or smashes.

It's gonna be a bread 'n butter move for Brawl Fox.

Sure no problem I just want to learn it before the midnight release tourney, what are the button commands on a classic controller and on a gamecube one? I want to memorize that and shine x2 before the tourney. If you can give the button sequence and when and how to use it, I would greatly appreciate it.

yeah, that's what i do lol.

basically, try to space your down air so you hit the back of them, that way you can't be punished easily, dair has decent priority.




If you guys want to know some options, here's exactly what i usually do.



downair to Utilt.

usually I can do two uptilts before the opponent di's forward.

Once they DI forward, depending on percents i'll either...

A) They'll land at low percents and most likely shield, so i just grab to dthrow and try to follow up..

B) Or they're still floating in front of you, so you can immidatly do an upsmash, you can always pivot uptilt but i don't since it takes more time and they might be able to escape, so the upsmash it pretty safe to use. you might be able to follow this up with an upair or nair tho.

Go play SSB instead. Fox is a lot more similar to that incarnation than he is to his Melee form. He's just as good too. In fact, Brawl Fox is amazing. No Shine is No Problem. Yeah, that's gonna be the new slogan :laugh:

You can do shff d.air Utilt>shff d.air Utilt>shff d.air Utilt... I believe it is possible for your opponent to jump out of it at a certain percentage (it was like 5am when I was playing so I don't remember well). You can to d.air into <insert move>.
