Right near the beginning of this vid.

Looks like it's going to be used viably in brawl., since it's so fast and has the greatest range of any aerial in the game, as well as a disjointed hit box.

I have to say this is the most relevant Link "text" topic in a while. So many "ideas" and "clan" stuff.
Anyways...
I watch that video before you even posted this topic. Very observant of you, I didn't even notice it.
In SSBM, the hookshot did have long range and fairly quick landing recovery time. The problem with was it didn't create enough stun or knockback to have a reliable use. It kind of looks like there is more stun on the hookshot in SSBB. It sure does have fast recovery that's for sure and with Link's longer reaching sword.
There need to be more test IMO from people who actually have the game before we can jump to conclusions.
Also, I want to point out that there have been statements that say that Link's F-air has really fast recovery. Yet there is no F-air, fast fall, jab, jab, etc... If the hookshot does have good stun and recovery it could lead to the same string.
I guess we'll have to wait for the GERM to put his vids out. He'll be sure to do all the crazy stuff he can with Link and coming up with some effective strings.

Well every character has at least one (peach has two) aerial move that autocancels. I though link's was his nair, guess the either the fair or nair just has very small amounts of lag.

Well, it's sort of confirmed. The lag that is.
* Hookshot Cancel - If Link lands while doing an aerial hookshot, it will automatically be cancelled. Zero lag.
Here is the link to the thread.

The question is now is if the stun is good enough to use the hookshot as a reliable source to start or add to a combo.

dude i hope it has at least more knockback then it had in Melee, everytime i used it to hit someone in mid-air i got punished for it like crazy because my opponent would go nowhere. it was a really funny move to use (especially if you hit like three people with it in one shot ), but it just wasn't a good idea in competitive play.
