In melee when you used raptor boost in the air on an opponent, you were sent into helpless mode and stopped in your tracks. In brawl it appears when you connect an aerial over b, you bounce over the opponent and you aren't helpless either (or so it appears)! Watch at 1:35 and 7:11 http://youtube.com/watch?v=86qgmn6pP4s

If this is true it means no more Raptor Boost suicides on Yoshi's Island Pipes. I may be able to actually play that stage now.

Notice that that falcon made contact both times, I wonder if falcon becomes helpless if you miss.
Simply awesome! I was waiting for them to fix that ridiculous aspect of the move.
However, it seems that he still goes 'helpless', he just hits the ground too soon in those instances for it to be seen.
Yet I bet he can grab the edge after it this time around, and the little boost is great.

This attack just seems better in general. Seems much more usable in Brawl now, especially since you can grab edges with it (not that it is needed as much anymore, from what I hear)

From King's thread this is confirmed.
Can't wait to Raptor Boost Recovery Own people.
That's good. I don't remember how many times I accidentally did that after playing Falco.

Awesome! His raptor boost made me commit suicide a lot in melee, glad to see it's fixed.

hooray for Falcons Boosting Raptor. If I had any authority in naming that, it would be Raptor Hop!

Too bad that's his only special move where we don't hear his uber manly voice in extacy. :(

this is a little off topic, but anyone notice that NOBODY is using the new physics where you can leap off of someones head for a meteor smash? At the end of that video Capt. Faclon could have just bounced off of Falcos head instead of doing the down smash and the move lag killing him.

That is weird. I guess everyone's forgotten about it.
...Or labeled it cheap.

Umm...anyone realize that the only useful reason for using falcon's forward-b was to set up for combos?

@ Luigi Ka-Master: B-But... What if YOU MUST RECOVER?!
Oh, wait, nevermind.
Well, it's useful when you beat a punching bag in the air. ;)

Hello ^^. I'm the Meljin of the video =)
I recently started to play Captain Falcon, and this raptor boost thing is absolutely usefull.
First of all, without guys with disjointed hitbox, I think this is a very priority move. And it is pretty secure to do this, because it's alike the front-B of pika, auto sweetspot if you don't hit the ennemy ^^.

Hi Meljin. Do you think you could make a video demonstrating the usefulness of this move? That would be nice especially for someone with high quality videos

Footstool spiking is almost impractical. It's pretty difficult to get off and if you whiff it, you loose your 2nd jump.

Is it possible to use an UpB after raptor boost in the air or possibly another raptor boost?
thats good now that you can do that now

Impractical? Yes.
But awesome. Your going to see people footstooling not for its usefulness, but because its a shaming.
People will do it in tournaments just because it will make them audience favorites.

of course he wont be left helpless anymore. you can attack after any special move now. but the bouncing over the character is new

i don't know if this is old news or not, but i saw a video where captain falcon does a raptor boost off of samus' incoming missile off the stage. without taking damage, too.
i'm wondering if he can boost off of all projectiles.
edit: :57–:58ish
edit 2: the video would help lol http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ug9f1Gt5wXk
