Is Link's old ground instant spin attack stronger than Link's spin attack when not charged?
If so I'm sad :(

I'd imagine this is precisely why they changed it to a charged move in the first place: it was way overpowered in Melee. I think this is a reasonable trade-off. The move still retains its destructive potential, but the nerfing of the uncharged attack gives other players a much more fair chance.

I agree retard18426, at least in brawl you have to charge up to get a strong attack, unlike in melee where you could easily spam his UpB

UpB Spin Attacks are so easy to punish in melee because of the awful end lag. Spamming it isn't cheap or broken because anyone that is even somewhat decent knows how to own that strat. >.>
It does suck that the spike is gone and the move in general has less knockback but it seems to have abit less end lag and still can kill without charging it up but takes higher damage to do so this time around. The best thing about it tho is, it still serves it's purpose as a Combo Break aka get off me move to get some more space. Link has plenty of kill moves and doesn't need this one as much as people think. Also his speed buffs, range buffs, and better projectile game looks very impressive. I think if the uncharged ground spin attack does have less end lag, that this will only help Link in the long run instead of nerf like everyone else seems to think.

Completely right Aeramis.
IMO Link's spin is a crowd-clearer. It should not have the spike for an edge-guard, and if they tone the power down a bit, that's fine, as long as I can still clear 3 guys around me to find better positioning. The down-time is absolutely horrendeus, and the move is overrated by everyone in the first place.
from what i\'ve read it seems that it\'s the same strenth and charging it makes it only marginally stronger thought that was from e-for-all so who knows now.

If my eyes didn't deceive me, the move itself seems to launch enemies upward more than slam them down. That, if anything would just change its priority from an edgeguard to a quicker Star KO (Hell, almost everything of Link's seems star ko potential with the knockback he's got now).

okay, it pisses me off when everyone rag's on the Spin Attack as if it was God's Chosen Move in SSBM. honestly, it wasn't that incredible of a technique, and seeing as how getting kills with his Fsmash, Usmash, and even his Dsmash was difficult in Melee, he needed the Spin Attack to be as good as it was or else characters like Fox and Sheik would absolutely destroy him.
and didn't anyone read anything that Gimpy has said about Link at all? the spin attack is now less effective by far then it used to be. i've been watching video's like crazy, and unless the opponent is above 140%, you won't be getting kills with it. sorry guys.
