Finally, no Crystal Flash, the offical name of Zamus' FS is "Power Suit Samus"...
Isn't that kind of idiotic ?? Crystal Flash is definitely a better choice.

I guess that's because Sakurai tries to fit it with the Japanese name,
which says "パワードスーツ装着", meaning "Power Suit Equip"...

Really? There's a third Samus form?

Varia Suit -> Zero Suit -> Power Suit -> ???

No, no, no.

The name of Samus' original suit, and of Samus' second suit (play Zero Mission) in its basic form is the "Power Suit". Technically, the suit itself is still the "Power Suit". It has, amongst other things, a jetpack, Arm Cannon, antigrav system and plenty of defensive armour...but you already knew that, didn't you? It's what allows Samus to be, well, Samus.

http://mdb.classicgaming.gamespy.com/mp/art/power_suit_concept.jpg

One of the key features of the Power Suit is its modularity; you can upgrade it in virtually any way you can possibly imagine, even with stuff that it wasn't designed to integrate with in the first place. The Varia Suit (known as Baria/Barrier Suit in Japan) is a Chozo-built upgraded version of the Power Suit. We all know what it looks like, so you don't get a picture. In addition to improved armour and making the suit look even more badass, the Varia upgrade provides shielding from heat. It renders the suit impervious even to lava, but only up to certain temperatures.

The reason why Samus' suit is so commonly referred to as the Varia Suit is because she has started with this suit in a number of her games, and it's basically become commonplace for Samus to begin with this suit as it has become the most well-known and iconic form of her Power Suit.

Samus' FS unleashes the Zero Laser and overloads the Power Suit's energy tanks, causing it to break apart (just like in the Metroid games) and reveal "Zero Suit Samus", which is just a name for Samus in her undersuit. This name is taken from Metroid: Zero Mission because it was in this game that Samus' first Power Suit was destroyed, forcing players to play as a suitless Samus for part of the adventure.

ZS Samus' FS is the closest thing we'll ever get to the Crystal Flash. The Crystal Flash restores Samus' suit's energy tanks in Super Metroid, and in Brawl, though under a different name, it restores the suit's energy tanks and causes it to rebuild itself, returning to the default Samus.

That's all.

Indeed. I suppose Zamus (Zero Suit Samus) Will never be in a tourney... You need a Smash Ball to use her, and most tourneys turn off all items....

Why does Shiek have a separate page but not Zamus? Wtf?

Actually, starting with Metroid II: Return of Samus, the Varia Suit began to be depicted with those big shoulder pads that everyone has come to know and love. in Super Metroid, the Varia Suit upgrade included the shoulder pads, in Metroid Prime, the Varia Suit upgrade included the shoulder pads, and in Metroid Prime 2 and 3, Samus starts with the shoulder pads and it is referred to as the Varia Suit.

in Smash Bros, Samus wears the Varia Suit. I suppose technically it IS the Power Suit with a Varia upgrade, which is what Sakurai means when he says "Power Suit." But regardless, there is no denying that it is also the Varia Suit.

I thought about that, but maybe he means a separate board, the current one is Samus/Zamus while we have one for Zelda and one for Sheik.

I had a really good idea that Zamus would get the Power Suit back in her FS, but I doubted myself because I thought that only one SmashBall was allowed in one game...

Well, technically, she took it off and then got shot, causing it to get lost/destroyed in the wreckage. Technically Brawl is the first thing that's caused her Suit to fall off from a super powerful attack.

I second this post. The name is done, so what's the problem?

hmm... Zero suit Samus is more of one character then Zelda/Sheik... because they have each unique moveset... but Zelda og Sheik can change back and forth at any time...

but I didn't get that final smash... can you start with Zero Suit Samus... and the final smash she uses will make her put the power suit on?

well... when final smashes aren't used, that would make it possible for people who prefer zero suit samus to choose her...

I'm thinking there will be a way to start as one or the other in the final version. Holding A or something.

All true. Absolutely true. Further clarification for those who might still not understand that:

"Power Suit" = Samus' suit, regardless of upgrade.

Varia Suit = Anti-heat armour upgrade and badass shoulder pads.

Oh, and for the games where Samus has started w/ the Varia Suit:

-Prime (Samus loses it soon after the start of the game but it still counts)
-Echoes
-Corruption (her ship's computer actually refers to her suit as "Varia Suit", and the Logbook in the game makes no mention of the suit being called the "Power Suit")
-Fusion (Samus loses it before the game actually starts but it still counts)
-Return of Samus? (I don't remember; it's actually the only Metroid game I've never played)

Well, technically, she took it off and then got shot, causing it to get lost/destroyed in the wreckage. Technically Brawl is the first thing that's caused her Suit to fall off from a super powerful attack.

Bah. >> It's been a while since I played MZM, but yes, that is true. Brawl is the first instance where Samus' suit has ever been destroyed by anything while she was still inside it, not counting dying in the Metroid games.

-Return of Samus? (I don't remember; it's actually the only Metroid game I've never played)

Samus actually started with just the Power Suit in RoS. in fact, the reason the shoulder pads were added to the Varia Suit in the first place was because the game was in black and white and the developers needed another way to distinguish between the two suits rather than just by changing the color.

well from what i have seen..zero suit samus comes after samus uses his final smash. I dont use samus, but i dont think its fair for samus players who want to use zero suit samus. btw can the smash ball be turned off and on like an item??
