Could mario's cape give him the power to glide?

I was thinking that maybe mario could glide in SSBB. In Melee mario has a cape that gives him a little extra height in the air. Maybe in Brawl he could use his cape to glide and recover like he does for Super Mario World 3. I know that he could not glide in the demo of Brawl but it was just a demo. Sakurai might have something special planned for the games release in January.

By the way, this is my first thread. I will take any suggestions from anyone as to how to make this thread better.

Super Mario World 3? You sure he didn't use his cape in just Super Mario World...In Super Mario Bros. 3...he used his tail to fly...if that's what your thinking and no I don't think his cape is going to let him glide...it should but it isn't.....I feel Mario should have everything...I think he's going to be able to crawl, I mean why not? Gliding should be added but it isn't.

If Mario had the ability to glide, he would be broken to a unbelievable level. Even as a huge Mario-Doc mainer, I'd hate if they unbalanced him that much.

Though it would be pretty **** nice to chase people off the edge w/ b-airs and then just glide back.

I'd actually love it but I think that'd be over board I dunno maybe not to glide,but maybe the second time he uses it in the air he could sorta rise significantly then slowly float downwards,like when u left A pressed in his games

that'd be funny even with the same sound effect's XD,hmm well charizard has the ability to fly and he's a gigantic dragon and I don't see people complaining,im sure if mario could glide it'd be cool,I hope that if he cant glide he'll at least be able to float tho
