You see the text written on the Grenade? It says "Grenade Delay 3.0".
Since 3 minutes is *obviously* out the question, and grenades don't usually explode on impact.
So there, thats the grenade's delay, 3 seconds.
And the number on the bottom is just some random serial number for the grenade.

It is also possible that different grenades have different timers on them, just for the sake of thinking.

I know this is either Old or Belongs in the "Snake" section, but this was a picture of Kirby and I didn't see any alike topics.

I think it's just for show. Imagine a grenade staying on the same spot for more than a second, nobody's going to get hit by it in a hectic smash match, especially since even the slower characters can be right at the other side of most stages in 3 seconds more or less.

3 Seconds include airtime, as well as if the intended target is actually hit and stalled by the grenade as a projectile, 3 seconds is usually enough.

When you pull the pin out, you have 3 seconds to throw it, so if you could hold it while the pin was out, it'd be usefull.

Yea I kind of noticed that too. But 3.0 might be like the type instead of the timer because 3 seconds is kind of a lot of time in smash (enough time to run away). Maybe the number applies to how strong the grenades are?

As LuLLo said, there is nothing yet that makes these any different than Link's Bomb.
That is to say, you can hold on to them until they blow your hand off.
So, you take it out, pursue your target, and then a quick volley.
Snake wasn't playable at E For All, so we don't know the extent of his abilities. =/

Really, 3 seconds is not too long. Dont Link's bombs explode after more than 5 seconds even? Either way, you would probably hold the grenade to pursue the target and then throw it when it should explode near them...

good observation. 3 seconds is excpected, though.

But these grenades don't explode on contact so people can still run away from them.

I seriously doubt the grenades don't explode on contact. I don't think the 3.0 has anything to do with time either, I think it's just the version/power/model/ect.
