The first MGS, or Twin Snakes. His camo seems to be from Snake Eater though.

You know about Geno but not Snake? For shame.

it's definetly from Metal Gear Solid 2, but I hope they have one from Twin Snakes as an alternate scheme (without his 5'o clock beard)

Man, I find it funny that half the people here know jack-**** about the MGS series.
Anyways, it's his Metal Gear Solid 2 design.

It's the MGS2 suit design, but the face/head is more like the Big Boss design of MGS3. Strange for me, personally, but it looks pretty good.

As Formless said, it's a mix of MGS2 and MGS3. The face is from MGS3, and the body is from MGS2. A nice bundle if you ask me.

It really is although i'd say his model is more toward MGS 2, *minus the colors.* if you ask me.

Could it be that Snake is actually Big Boss and not Solid Snake because of the face? The site already proved it was Solid Snake (because they called him Solid Snake), but it could still be Big Boss....
It's the MSG2 design for sure, and Big Boss's face designs.

i'd say it was closer to MGS2

The facial Hair and Bandana(solid snake is more of a blueish gray) are from MGS3. His sneaking suit is from MGS2, although the camo patterns are MGS3. ALso notice in the Yoshi Codec sequence how he talks about eating one.(speaking of those there are done in the MGS1 style) The eating system was introduced in MGS3 so Naked Snake/Big Boss could keep up his stamina.(he would also ask Para-Medic how things would taste) And lastly notice how his name is just "Snake" not Solid nor "Naked", so that pretty much shows he is a combonation of both Solid and Naked/Big Boss countr parts. Although he is more MGS2 than anything.

Face from MGS3, suit from MGS2. I think his bandana is the same from all the MGS game

It can't be. MGS1&2's Solid Snake and Mgs3's Naked Snake (Big Boss) are different people. Here take a look:

Naked Snake (Big Boss)

As you can see there is a difference in the bandana(Solid Snake's art work even has it as blue)

The general design is from MGS2: Sons of Liberty but the color scheme for his other camos are from MGS3.
its a Mix of all of them (except MGS4)
Hell even MGS3 is in the mix (all that facial hair)

I'd honestly go with Sons of Liberty Snake. Or at the very least, Twin Snakes model with SoL's facial hair.
There's no way its Naked Snake, but I agree that his camo's are from Naked Snake, since Solid never had anything more than his suit.

The Sneaking Suit is from MGS2, obviously.
The facial hair thing is just a result of Solid Snake being the clone of Naked Snake. Solid is just taking Naked's physical characteristics.

You said that Naked and Solid were different people and the bandanas were different. I merely said why Solid's face in Brawl looks like Naked's.
I really hope they used Snakes design from "Guns of the Patriots" for color change....just going all black would be good enough with no eye patch....I mean c'mon they have the music.

Here is a comparision of both Solid and Big Boss's face
Solid Snake:

Under Big Boss's eyes, slightly in the cheek area, he has indentions. Solid Snake doesn't have them at all, not even when he is old:

Snake in Smash Brothers Brawl has the indents:

Excellent observation. THe indents were added for detail purposes. The other weren't the only ones who had to get a cosmetic update.

seems like MGS2 to me because in MGS3 he gets his eye gouged out at one point in the game, and not MGS1 because he isn't clean shaven and doesn't have the weird flak vest thing from the beginning of the game..
having the eyepatch or clean shaven (mgs1) would be a nice alternate costume, or if he turned into the original big boss..haha that would be a weird suprise..or even from MGS4.. grandpa *** kickery ftw. Or a Pliskin costume? Maybe? **** sneaky Snake.
ANYWAY, yeah, MGS2 in my opinion. :)

The best way to explain it is by using Link as an example.
Link is based off of Twilight Princess Link primarily, but it's definitely not Twilight Princess Link. The biggest indicator of this is that he has brown hair in Twilight Princess, but blond hair in Brawl. Another indicator is that his up smash is supposedly taken from one of his older games. The Link in Brawl isn't Twilight Princess Link, it's Brawl Link - a combination of several Links.
Snake is very much the same. It's not Solid Snake, it's not Naked Snake, it's Smash Snake.

Has there been a trophy of Snake shown yet? That'll probably end this silly debate once and for all... and prove that he is indeed Solid Snake and not Naked/Smash/whatever the hell else people say Snake. :p

Thank you. Another great way of explaining Snake's design.
The overall design, including facial features and attire, is a combination of MGS2 Snake, and MGS3 Snake. Yes, they are different people (well, kinda), but they look practically identical. "Naked Snake"'s facial design has definitive dark undertones under the eyes, and they are clearly present in Brawl. No to mention all the camo, which is MGS3 exclusive. The standard suit is practically straight from MGS2. It's definitely not the sneaking suit from MGS1.
If anything though, I would say that if it wasn't for the codec conversations, this would be Big Boss, not Solid Snake.

i remember something from the old dojo saying it was the mgs2 design. although i could be wrong, my memory kinda sucks.
however MGS2 = one of my favorite games and it's definitely from mgs2.
I wish they had a Plisken outfit.

How is this even debatable... Its from MGS2. And yes they gave him more of a beard, that doesn't mean they took that aspect from Naked Snake... Solid Snake is capable of not shaving for a couple days and growing it out. lol

This is Snake's trophy description:
A former member of FOXHOUND with
an IQ of 180 and mastery of six
languages. He's an infiltration
specialist whose ability to carry
out missions under any conditions
has made him a legend. He's saved
the world three times from the
threat of bipedal, nuclear-armed
mechs called Metal Gear. Currently
he's working with the anti-Metal
Gear group known as Philanthropy.
From this, can you figure out if it is Solid Snake that is in Smash?

I'm not really saying its not Solid Snake, but more or less pointing out how he references both counter parts of the "Snake" character.
