Equally skilled players, one selecting MK the other selecting his/her main... is MK inherently stronger?

Did anyone get this feeling from the Smash Trials?

meta knight from what i have heard isn't the strongest but can put conbos on well. the question you are asking is imposoble to answer. every character has flaws and strengths. i dont believe in tiers

Gimpyfish states on his character impressions that Metaknight is a great character on the demo but he is not necessarily THE BEST. He has flaws in his KO'ing ability.

He is not broken at all so no Metaknight>all is untrue.

He isnt strong but his ability to continuously hit combos can add up damage quickly (sorta like foxes normal B laser gun, it hits fast and can add up damage quickly if someone is asleep, but just add moving around, different styles and you have yourself a Meta Knight :). So he has his Balance in his % damage dealt and FS too. His FS has short range. He actually has awesome capability in dealing high % of damage in no time at all but has trouble KOing. Ive heard his UP A and Down A are the best for finishing the job. He also has some lag time in all his B moves.

On his normal B (Meta Tornado) at the end of it it leaves meta wide open for some hits.
On his side B (Meta Drill) the start of the move and a part of the end has some lag time.
On his down B (Dimension Cape) the end of it when your done teleporting or whatever it leaves you open for a second.
On his up B (Meta Glide) The start of the move leaves Meta open for an attack for like a half a second

other than that Meta keeps his balance

I know the concept is

weak hits = faster attack
strong hits = slower attack

But the problem with this showed up in Melee... fast characters were simply better. Heavy characters were juggled easily and even though they hit harder, the faster characters could rack up the damage and then easily hit a forward smash and get em off the screen.

I know the emphasis in brawl is to make heavy characters more viable by giving them interruption resists... but whether or not this helps is something we will see.

I was just interested in what the people that have played feel about where MK stands.

You bring a point but this is not exactly true for brawl. Heavy sets on brawl such as Bowser and Ike (More or less Donkey Kong[poor guy]) all showed their capabilities. I truly agree with Gerudo, they all have strengths and weaknesses. For MK's thought he will obviously be my main and I will practice to the point where it won't matter what people say about tiers. Wanna play a character, play it and be good then it won't mater at that point.

honestly sir, there's a topic for this in the MK discussion. It covers everything
EDIT: had you searched Metaknight, and power, this topic wouldn't exist

that was my concept with mewtwo he is my main he was gonna be my main and i now consider my mewtwo strong no matter what i got excellent with mewtwo dispite his 'level' in the tier list

So in other words the pwn is in the player, not the character.

i dont believe in tiers

Oh I believe in tiers in Melee, however, in BRAWL, I think any tiering will be limited, VERY limited

i think tiers are going to be more prominent in brawl actually

i dont see why everyone focuses on tiers find a character you like not how high they are on the tier list it had no effect on having mewtwo as my main. a great mewtwo can beat a great fox

Cruise! how dare you mention the T-word! have you seen the nerfing and beefing? It's almost like dart guns and Tyson are coming together!!! nobody is inherently more powerful, this isn't sephiroth vs homer in Mugen. Mk is equal to everybody, but people are biased simply because they are fanboy extremists who believe his awesomeness in the boss battles will carry over. you have nothing to base anything off of that anybody is inherently stronger than anybody. The game is 3 months and 5 days away. EDIT: tires don exits. EDIT EDIT: while I may seem like I will main Metaknight, I need to rid people of the impression that he is instantly god umm (insert T-Word) if any.

I think if you're asking if Meta Knight is "Most Powerful", then you should define "powerful" first.

I think metaknight will be a great mix between speed and power when the game comes out.

Wrong, wrong, and good news WRONG. unfortunately...

Meta's attacks come out fast, but that doesn't make him a fast character. From what I saw, the speed of characters were all fairly similar with the exception of Sonic's amazing dash. Meta Knight's air speed is pretty bad.

And don't think that his Smashes are any good. They're all very weak. Meta himself is "light" but the mechanics of the game (and the unfamiliarity of characters for everyone) made it so I didn't die very easily. I felt like I could survive forever compared to Kirby. ;)

I don't think that'll change in 3 months, when they (Nintendo and Sakurai) have much more things to do

Indeed a great question to ask :) Strength is limited but combo-ing is a major pwn factor in this concept. He can't kill easily but he is fast enough to rack up the damage o do so. Their is no god tier or tier for that matter. Question answered.

It is simply too early to tell these kinds of things, especially because they have 3 more months to balance the game before it is released.
