Well, just like Bowser, King Dedede became more and more of a softy as time went on.
He went from final boss in a lot of games to being the first world boss in Kirby:Squeak Squad.
At least he's not a pathetic as Bowser, playing sports and joining paper Mario to save the world WITH him.

We still have to hope ol' Dedede still has some evil left in him to battle it out this February.

He's not really villainous. He's just always possessed by Dark Matter (as such, the things he does are not his fault). Like Lunadis said, when he's not possessed he's just tryin to be #1. He's more of an anti-hero, because, when, once again, not possessed, he usually helps Kirby.

First of all, King Dedede is the first boss in Squeak Squad in the same way that Bowser is the first boss in Super Mario RPG. He's not the main villain in the game. Secondly, Bowser isn't exactly pathetic. When he helps save the world, it's only so it will still exist for him to enslave it. Finally, Dedede isn't even really evil. Most of the times he seems evil, it's only because of a misunderstanding. As for Bowser playing sports, even villains need some down time, right?

EDIT: Still, I don't think Dedede should look that jolly, even if he does wear a Santa costume. :P

In the upcoming Kirby for the Wii (even though the last trailer of it has been a loooooooong while ago, it should still be up on gamespot.com) apparantly DeDeDe steals Kirby's Warp Star. Seems he might be a final boss or at least semi-final boss once again.

In any case, yeah... He does look pretty creepy... I mean I sure as heck would be creeped out if a Penguin wearing a Santa Claus costume would slowly walk up to me and smile while weilding a HUGE motorized hammer.

King Dedede is one sexy penguin. He has nice, fun, powerful moves, so he's going to be my 3rd. character for sure, and I'm used to playing with speed characters, but I'm going to make an exception this time.

I just hope that if he has a VA, I beg to God, it's not the 4kids voice.
